Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Evaluation Associate, the Research Assistant collaborates with a small team within CREEHS to evaluate local and statewide initiatives related to public health, human services, and education. CREEHS is a University-based research and evaluation center that provides independent and objective program evaluations, applied research, and program planning services to state and municipal agencies, school districts, colleges/universities, community organizations, and foundations to assist them in meeting their program improvement and accountability needs in the areas of education, public health, and human services. Since its inception in 2011, CREEHS’s goal has been to help our clients collect and use information in ways that improve their programs so that there are better outcomes for program stakeholders. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate and execute multiple evaluation project components.
  • Support the development of data collection instruments such as surveys, focus group and interview protocols. 
  • Assist with applications to the MSU Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Recruit participants for research and evaluation studies. 
  • Assist with scheduling and collecting data, including but not limited to administering surveys and conducting interviews and focus groups.
  • Enter and manage data, including quality control checking.
  • Support the analysis and summary of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Participate in the preparation of evaluation reports (including data visualizations, graphs, writing), presentations (including webinars), and project proposals.
  • Support stakeholder engagement at multiple levels (clients, grantees, participants, community members) in evaluation planning, data collection, reporting findings, and related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in research/evaluation, public health, education, or a related social science field
  • Minimum one year of professional experience providing research for hire and/or program evaluation services to clients or partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED:

  • Strong problem-solving skills; quick learner; flexible and willing to learn new ideas, content areas, and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain critical attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of study data
  • Strong organizational, task, and time management skills in order to prioritize multiple project components
  • Strengths both as a team player and a self-starter

  • Familiarity with the Google Suite (e.g., Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar)
  • Familiarity with online survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics)
  • Proficiency in managing and summarizing data in Excel and SPSS or other analysis software
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred
