Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The UN Women Regional Office for West and Central Africa (WCARO) provide integrated policy advice, technical assistance, and capacity development support to country offices across 10 countries (Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Mali, Niger, Côte d’Ivoire, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, Senegal and Liberia). WCARO also serves as a member of UN Country Teams in four countries (Ghana, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Chad) where it operates as a Non-Resident Agency (NRA).
The regional Planning, Monitoring and Reporting (PMR) Unit supports the global SPU team as custodian of RBM within the organization, in guiding UN Women to achieve higher quality development results through an integrated approach that links strategic planning, monitoring and reporting and Results-Based Management (RBM). The regional PMR unit provides quality assurance at the regional and field levels in the region, on strategic planning and results-based monitoring and reporting processes as well as data aggregation and analysis to communicate on results internally and externally. It is also associated with capacity building including for staff.
As clearly expressed in its new Strategic Plan 2026-2029, UN Women will deliver on its mandate amid global disruption and funding challenges, rejuvenating its business model to drive agile, efficient performance. UN-Women implements results-based management to steer the effective, efficient use of resources entrusted to it. With one overarching corporate results architecture, UN-Women plans, monitors, reports and communicates its results in a harmonized, streamlined way, from the Strategic Plan through its Strategic Notes, workplans and projects. UN-Women will prioritize the improved quality of results and financial data published on its Transparency Portal, further strengthening transparency and openness.
WCARO’s new Strategic Note 2026-2029, currently in the process of approval, is clearly aligned to the new Strategic Plan. In this context, the PMR unit needs to further host a Data, Monitoring and Reporting Expert to enhance the monitoring and reporting of strategic notes, work-plans, programmes and projects in the region, and to better communicate results with stakeholders.
The Data Monitoring & Reporting function integrates corporate strategy, resources and performance measurement to improve decision-making in order to manage for results while increasing transparency and accountability to its governing bodies and stakeholders. The RO works closely with the Strategic Planning Unit (SPU) in SPRED focusing on assisting UN Women in the region to achieve higher quality development results through an integrated approach that links strategic planning and Results-Based Management (RBM) with more effective and new ways of working.
Therefore, UN Women Regional office is hiring a Data, Monitoring & Reporting Analyst to effectively ensure that the Regional Office is accountable and aligned with corporate requirements. Reporting to the Regional Strategic Planning Specialist, the Data Monitoring and Reporting Analyst will provide support to the Regional Office (RO) and Country Office (CO)/colleagues in incorporating data c, monitoring and reporting into programme formulation as well as tracking against Strategic Plan targets and the reporting of results to internal and external audiences.
