Key responsibilities:
- Drive the development of local sustainability strategies that align business objectives, customer requirements, and HSBC’s sustainability commitments
- Collaborate with and influence local stakeholders to ensure sustainability strategies are executed effectively at both regional/market levels, implementing global best practices in ESG
- Lead hands-on supplier engagement across all ESG pillars (carbon, nature, inclusion, human rights) with a fit-for-purpose approach based on supplier profile and maturity
- Integrate sustainability principles into local purchasing strategies and programmes and develop projects to address specific ESG challenges/opportunities.
- Develop an effective network of sourcing sustainability professionals, ensuring clear communication and engagement to embed sustainable procurement practices across the region
- Support the Regional CPO and the Global Supply Chain Sustainability & Diversity Lead in developing and executing sustainability objectives, assisting with defining metrics and target proposals based on market best practices
- Act as a subject matter expert on sustainability, global standards, and best practices, serving as the escalation point for regional ESG issues
Requirements:
- Significant experience in purchasing management in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and continous improvement.
- In depth working knowledge of HSBC’s strategic approach to Corporate Sustaianbility at the Group and local level. In depth knowledge of devising, developing, managing and reporting on strategic sustainable development and direct impact reduction programmes at the corpoarte level.
- Detailed understanding of the risks and opportunities associated with sustainability and improved environmental management to both HSBC’s businesses and stakeholders, the wider financial services sector and major corporates arena. Detailed knowledge of the sustainable procurement practices within financial services and other market sectors
- Excellent communication skills both the verbal and written to drive effective communication and engagement at all levels of HSBC structure. Excellent networking and relationship management skills and ability to develop strong effective working relationships with colleagues, business partners and external networks at all levels.
- Significant multi-industry sector experience and commodity knowledge relevant to HSBCs greatest opportunities and risks.
- Excellent strategy development, project management and analytical skills to ensure delivery of projects on time and to budget. Strong business and commercial awareness.
