The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team. In this role, you’ll use your clinical expertise to help clients develop, restore, and maintain the skills needed for daily living and independence.

As a Licensed Occupational Therapist, you will:

  • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy assessments using observation, interviews, examinations, and testing to guide individualized treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement treatment and habilitation programs based on identified rehabilitation goals.
  • Administer and interpret evaluations to assess clients’ developmental and therapeutic needs.
  • Communicate client needs, treatment goals, and progress with an interdisciplinary team, clients, families, and guardians.
  • Monitor, document, and evaluate client responses to therapy; modify treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Provide in-service training for occupational therapy staff and other facility personnel regarding OT practices and goals.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies, adaptive equipment, and durable medical equipment as needed.
  • Develop and coordinate therapeutic adaptations for clients’ care and environment, including adaptive equipment, wheelchair modifications, and splints.

Requirements Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.

Legal Requirements: Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Nebraska.

Preferred Qualifications: Master Degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program. OT/L, Preferred OTR/L (registered with NBCOT(R), and licensed in Nebraska(L))

Starting Pay Range $32.690-$48.189. Plus an additional $3.00/hour facility differential pay for hours worked. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.

Knowledge of:

  • Occupational therapy principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Diagnostic treatment, assessment, and rehabilitation procedures.
  • Documentation standards and use of orthotic/prosthetic/adaptive devices.
  • Human growth and development across life stages.

Skill in:

  • Administering and interpreting clinical assessments.
  • Developing effective, individualized treatment plans.
  • Preparing detailed progress and evaluation reports.

Ability to:

  • Motivate clients and encourage participation in therapy programs.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Build rapport with clients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
