The University of Akron, one of Ohio’s leading public institutions of higher learning, is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach in the new Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Program. This is a full-time 9-month non-tenure track position. The program is conducted in-person at The University of Akron Wayne College Campus in Orrville, Ohio. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teaching in the associate of applied science in nursing program including didactic, lab and clinical courses. The focus of the position will be Medical-Surgical Nursing, Health Assessment, and Pharmacology. The individual in this position is not responsible for completing research.
• Evaluating student performance.
• Assist in managing clinical placements including expanding clinical sites.
• Serve on program, school, college and university-wide committees as assigned.
• Maintain a program of personal, professional growth through activities such as engaging in scholarly activity, university and community service and other pursuits commensurate with faculty rank and status.
• Supporting University, College and School of Nursing goals to assure compliance with accreditation and/or licensure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

• Master's in Nursing or closely related discipline required.
• An unrestricted registered nurse licensure in the State of Ohio or current multi-state license.
• Must have a minimum of two years of experience working as a Registered Nurse.
• Current medical surgical, pharmacology, or assessment clinical competency, knowledge, and skills.
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in interpersonal, communication and organizational skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years of teaching experience.
• Knowledge and skill of maneuvering computer software (Brightspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint and other related educational platforms).
• Recent clinical nursing experience or teaching experience.
• Skills in goal setting and team building.
• Analytical and organizational skills to plan, implement, and evaluate course and program activities.
