Our clinic is conveniently located at Yonge & Sheppard with direct access to the TTC and Highway 401.

About this opportunity

The Medical Injection Program Coordinator is a role carried out by a certified Phlebotomist which plays a key role in supporting client’s management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. This role is integral to assisting our Sports Medicine physicians with our Regenerative Medical Injection Program, which consists of room set up, venipuncture, inventory management, and client education and monitoring. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and compassionate client care.

The Medical Injection Program Coordinator is responsible for accurate and timely collection of blood for therapeutic purposes, maintaining strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols, and ensuring accurate documentation and specimen handling. In addition to clinical duties, the role involves close collaboration with physicians to facilitate coordinated care and contribute to a positive client experience.

  • Perform venipuncture with care and accuracy
  • Ensure proper client identification and documentation
  • Prepare specimens for medical procedures under the supervision of a Sports Medicine physician
  • Support physicians with consultations by gathering information of client’s health through note taking
  • Monitor clients for adverse reactions during and after the injection procedures
  • Communicate clearly with clients about treatment, procedures and answer any questions under the supervision of the medical physician.
  • Assist in coordinating the regenerative medical injection program to ensure for its success.
  • Room set up, client prep, procedure assistance, scheduling client appointments, reminder calls, appointment protocol compliance
  • Triage clients appropriate for the medical injections
  • Track and restock medical injection program supplies.
  • Support diagnostic needs as part of a multidisciplinary care team
  • Promote a culture of safety within the rehabilitation team and care environment

What you need to be successful

  • Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant or Phlebotomy Certificate Program (recognized by CSMLS or CPTG)
  • Current Standard CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Certification in phlebotomy preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting; experience in rehabilitation or long-term care is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Keen observational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Empathy and a patient-centered approach to care
