Title: Medical Director

Reports to: Chief Program Officer YFWBYouth and Family-Well Being

Location: 337 East 17th Street, New York, NY 10003

Hours: 21 hours; Part time; Exempt

Salary: $98.90 - $109.89 / hour

Job Summary:

Individual provides guidance for all medical staff, implements best practice and guides the overall organizations medical practice. The Director evaluates the quality of medical practice and keeps the agency apprised of new and important developments in the field. As a clinical leader, the Director will represent GSS in public forums and outside committees and will develop relationships with other organizations which can contribute to success. Works collaboratively to ensure compliance with the Article 29-I healthcare policies and procedures.

Major Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with standards set by Article 29-I policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for compliance with City, State and Federal medical mandates and other funding sources related to medical care of participants.
  • Ensure the provision of high-quality health care to children and youth and families in the in Youth and Family Well-Being Division.
  • Work collaboratively with Vice Presidents of Physical and Behavioral Health to ensure consistent care best practices.
  • Provide clinical advice and guidance to staff within the Integrated Health department to promote best practice.
  • Provide medical coverage and advice as needed after hours.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with the professional community, referral sources, government regulatory bodies and funding sources.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other agency personnel including interdisciplinary teams
  • Provide agency wide medical information regarding issues that are arising and may impact all participants and staff.
  • Provide guidance to Human Resources and other agency stakeholders regarding pandemics, endemics or outbreaks of illnesses as needed.
  • Participate on agency wide incident risk management, and other committees as necessary
  • Act as an agency designee for signing consent for youth in foster care.
  • Provide direct service to children and youth including physical exams, camp exams etc. as needed.
  • Prescribe medication as needed.
  • Maintain a culturally competent, trauma informed and youth and family development focus.
  • Bill for clinical services provided in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as a member of the Agency Leadership Team.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO who is board certified in General Pediatrics and/or Adolescent Medicine
  • Must possess a current New York State Professional medical license and DEA license
  • Excellent communication and clinical skills
  • Solid knowledge about the New York Child Welfare system.
  • Utilizes Trauma Informed practice
  • Understanding and familiarity with Medicaid Managed Care
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and e-prescribing
