What You’ll Be Doing
Imagine a role where you are responsible for building core banking applications for a digital bank! Imagine doing it within a broader digital and direct core banking team who builds world class digital banking experiences. Well now you can! As Technical Team Lead – Application Development, you will join CIBC’s Simplii Technology team, where you will lead a high performing team of development specialists delivering innovative products and services. This role will lead a team of professional developers that will support the end-to-end application technologies, utilizing SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies. You’ll work closely with your team to drive Simplii's transformation and support its continued growth!

How You’ll Succeed
- Strategic Development & Execution: Perform and coordinate complex low level solution design activities. Understand the business requirements and translate them into system and application design artifacts, ensure it’s aligned with our technology roadmap. Design and document the technical functionality, infrastructure, interfaces, and integrations. Lead the design of cost-effective and innovative solutions to meet both business objectives and the goal of operational efficiency.
- Strategy and Roadmap: Contribute to technology roadmaps that are aligned with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business objectives. Lead multiple complex technology solutions while maintaining consistency across the platform, adopting best practices and pushing forward continuous improvements. Support, mentor and build the next generation of development leaders through knowledge sharing, collaboration and effective problem solving to support the continued growth of our organization.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the Technical team lead and interface with the project teams by driving review sessions and support stakeholder walk-throughs and ensure delivery aligns with business requirements as well as architectural directions. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences.
Who You Are
- Demonstrate 8-10+ years’ experience designing, developing, and supporting applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, OpenShift (OCP) clusters, Solace (or similar), JavaScript, Python (asset), Oracle/SQL databases, Azure/AWS cloud, and tools including GIT, Maven, Gradle, JIRA, Azure DevOps, and Confluence. The role is responsible for leading the functional design and development of application systems across all technologies and platforms. The role provides consultation for senior management on a wide spectrum of existing and emerging infrastructure technologies, translating user requirements to process and data requirements and developing solutions for the business with far-reaching impact. The role provides technical leadership to develop precise steps and processing logic across all platforms, ensuring the designed specifications achieve business needs. In addition, the role provides comprehensive senior level technical consulting to other IT senior management and senior technical teams.
