Fuels Performance Advisor



Role synopsis

To support the Performance & Planning Manager in running core performance management processes; contributing notably to the timely delivery of actuals, forecasts & GFO submissions, the annual planning process, the provision of accurate business KPIs, MI reporting and performance analysis and story building for fuels business.

This is an advanced role for a highly capable candidate with good process management skills coupled by strong analytical capability and seeking an opportunity to gain significant planning & performance management experience in a fast paced operational environment.


Fuel Volume 4,3bn liters, Gross margin $115m, Cash Costs $40m, Capex $26m, Capital Employed $450m.

Key accountabilities

Process Excellence: Drive robust integrated weekly, monthly and quarterly performance processes, including monthly estimates and actuals, performance dashboards and GFO submissions, ensuring alignment and consistency.

Driving Value and Insight: Responsible for proactively driving business relevant Financial Performance, KPI and MI metrics, accountable for providing insights that drives underlying business performance, including required interventions.

Process Improvement: Drive close operational integration with the business teams to ensure the most efficient processes, and make material improvements to the efficiency and quality of the performance management information.
Key Tasks

  • Ensure monthly RCOP and Fuel Margin actuals are reported accurately & on time for each CoT; work closely with business to understand any deviations (vs. latest estimate) in Gross Fuel Margin/ rebates / discounts

  • Constantly understanding and seeking opportunities for the drivers of each line item in the financials ( amort, depr, FX gain loss, agent financials, SM, etc)

  • Constantly searching for automation opportunities in all the tasks related to actual and forecast processes

  • Improvements in the systems for both accuracy of reports as well as new designs to create more transparency

  • Analyse Midstream GM costs such as PT, SH, SM by terminal by month as well as Retail GM costs such as Marketing GM, Amortization etc. Compare the actuals to assumptions used in DCF process by Supply envelope, suggest changes where necessary.

  • Develop allocation ratios for PT, SH, SM to Retail and B2B channels of trade. Align the methodology and ratios with COT leadership. Closely track the ratios during the year and ensure the ratios used in Forecasts are in line with YTD actuals.

  • Provide insights to business teams regarding areas of SME

  • Ensure detailed monthly financial forecasts, along with Volume & Margin phasing, is circulated regularly with business

  • Lead/support data preparation for Supply & Demand Review CBM meeting

  • Oversee Weekly B2B/Retail reporting process

  • Lead/support preparation for Monthly Performance Review meetings/Retail VP meetings

  • Ensure accuracy of CoT profitability report (Agency/B2B) and lead any CI initiatives in coordination with business

  • Support Strategy Refresh and other Midstream/Retail projects as needed

  • Lead the process simplification and Single MI (Management Information) platform agenda.

  • Ensure quality communication and alignment with the local business contacts and the Central team

  • Support the Planning and Performance Manager in driving the Strategic Activity tracking process.

Essential Education

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics or Engineering

  • Minimum 4 years working experience in performance management/commercial management, preferably in Fuels Business

  • Native Turkish

  • Fluent English

  • Experience of processes and systems within BP, ideally with a strong link with business activities.

  • Good understanding of business environment and experience in performance & process management.

  • Proven ability to deal with complex situations.
