APM Terminals

As part of our Growth Strategy at APM Terminals, we are investing in greenfield projects to expand our existing footprint and working with our existing brownfield sites to ensure best-in-class terminals across the globe. Our ability to design and build a terminal, establish an operational organization and secure commercial business is pivotal to achieving these ambitions.

This role will be a trusted partner and connector across the portfolio of projects and will be central in improving project practices, techniques and tools, including the APM Terminals Project Management Framework. This role is about shaping and elevating the way we manage projects. You’ll lead the development of project controls, standards, and governance, act as a technical expert for global project teams, and drive LEAN-based improvements that build long-term capability across the organisation.

This is a global role based in The Hague, Netherlands, with exposure to high-value projects across APM Terminals globally.

Location: The Hague, Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, rollout, and governance of project management and control standards across all BIM projects.
  • Work across all Business Implementation Management (BIM) functions on approaches to project planning and delivery, for both process expertise and subject matter (technical) knowledge.
  • Drive, facilitate and plan workshops targeting clear end products
  • Review and challenge approaches and key interfaces within projects (business and asset delivery) and working with the projects to develop plans to address them.
  • Providing timely PMO guidance, advice and support to projects to improve their knowledge, abilities and effectiveness.
  • Conduct project execution and readiness reviews, ensuring alignment between business delivery and asset execution.
  • Be the conduit across the value chain in BIM, from project development to hand over and initial benefits realisation.
  • Ensure that elements of the Project Integration Framework are aligned and integrated with other relevant APM Terminals processes.
  • External benchmarking to improve methodologies supporting successful implementations · Coordinate project reporting and stage-gate revie

We’re Looking For

  • 15+ years of experience in project management and controls.
  • Strong background across project management and project controls disciplines, including planning, cost engineering and estimating, risk management, change management, stakeholder management and Document Management.
  • Experience developing and working with project standards and delivering project assurance·
  • Experience managing and functionally supporting teams of project planning and delivery professionals
  • Project management qualifications (PMI, Prince2, APMPMQ or equivalent) along with any relevant engineering qualifications.
  • Experience from a major civil infrastructure construction project is a major advantage. Experience in port industry experience, terminal construction or upgrade experience is a plus.
  • Global mindset, flexibility, and ability to travel internationally (up to 25%).
