Role Overview

This role will lead and manage Xiromed US Generics business Portfolio Selection, Business Development, and Alliance Management activities in accordance with the goals and business plan of the business unit, including project selection and optimization of development portfolio to maximize long-term value of the business unit’s commercial plan. The position includes identifying, evaluating, building, and maintaining relationships with strategic partners for implementing business development projects, leading due diligence on future assets, and leading generic US negotiations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • This role will be responsible for expanding the US generics business, in partnership with the Insud Global Portfolio and Business Development team, through pursuing and executing pharmaceutical products’ licensing-in and co-development projects, to complement Xiromed’s broad product portfolio, and other business development activities
  • Manage, coordinate and execute negotiations of licensing and other business development deals, including coordination between relevant functions within Xiromed, and across the Insud Group through impactful project leadership.
  • Coordinate and execute due diligence activities to support business development deals
  • Guiding and mentoring other team
  • Analyze and evaluate all commercial, legal and technical aspects of business development opportunities, in cooperation with other departments, including: Portfolio, Operations, Legal, R&D, and Finance, as well as in partnership with Insud Global Portfolio and Business Development team
  • Drive strengthening of relationships with key business development partners, through positioning of Xiromed as a partner of choice in the industry.
  • Provide ad hoc analytic support for customers, products, and growth
  • Evaluate market share and provide meaningful analysis on changes in the market to support strategic direction of Xiromed’s portfolio.

Pipeline Development

  • Partner with Insud Global Portfolio and Business Development team in discovery and evaluation activities of project candidates that fit with Xiromed/Insud’s Global capabilities, optimize our competitive position in the market and maximize value. Also lead discovery and evaluation activities of dedicated US Market project
  • Organize and conduct 3-4 Pipeline Committees annually to continually add new development projects to the future portfolio. Work with various company functions including R&D, Technical Operations, Regulatory, IP & Legal to vet candidate projects, and compile the relevant information needed to conduct an assessment on each opportunity.

Portfolio Management

  • Maintain the quarterly review of 5 years forecasts in partnership with Finance to ensure visibility to Xiromed’s long term plan.
  • Manage business case model creation and NPV analysis on development and in-licencing assets provide a financial snapshot of projects.
  • Oversee management of R&D budget for pipeline
  • Work with the R&D, Clinical, IP and Regulatory teams to ensure the various facets of each project are aligned and the progress of pipeline projects are on track.
  • Manage continuous market analysis, competitor analysis, cost analysis and pricing analysis for new opportunities and ongoing evaluation of current pipeline projects.
  • Develop systems and processes for the exchange of updated information with the various functional groups including R&D, Project Management, Clinical, IP and Regulatory.

Alliance Management

  • Serve as the lead alliance manager for existing and new high-value, complex partnerships on API, FDF development and manufacturing to ensure project momentum is in accordance with Xiromed’s long term plan and business
  • Facilitate strategic and operational decision-making with partners, ensuring timely resolution of issues and alignment on shared goals, through development of Joint Steering Committees and Joint Operating Committees as needed.
  • Lead business reviews with partners and internal stakeholders to assess progress, identify risks, and drive actions, through defining and tracking KPIs to ensure value realization
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, Supply Chain) to ensure seamless onboarding and execution of partnership deliverables.
  • Create and coordinate product and company press releases

Business Development

  • Pursue leads for potential collaboration with business partners whose capabilities and capacity may enhance Xiromed’s portfolio.
  • Negotiate terms with business development partners on strategic projects to maximize value to Xiromed’s portfolio.
  • Discover, analyze and lead/facilitate negotiations in collaboration with Insud Global on potential M&A, product or portfolio acquisitions. Conduct due diligence and collaborate with Legal, Regulatory, R&D, and Global BD teams to execute on NBOs.

Requirements and personal skills

  • Education: BA in Business or Life Sciences is Master’s degree or higher-level degree is preferred.
  • Languages: English, Spanish is a
  • Experience (years/area): 10 years of experience in pharmaceuticals preferred, including at least 7 years’ experience in US licensing/BD, procurement or alliance management
  • Specific Knowledge:
  • In depth knowledge of the US generic industry and competitive landscape
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner. Strong skills in relationship-building, and ability to influence internal ad external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the requirements for bringing a pharmaceutical product to market, including the principles of product development, registration, and launch preparations
  • Project management and leadership skills, including ability to lead cross-functional teams, spread across different geographies.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate commercial offers, product features and risks
  • Ability to support department goals, track, and report execution progress
  • Proactive and collaborative, working with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Techniques to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing
  • Strong knowledge of Excel including modeling, Word, and Knowledge of generic pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Travel: Up to 40% travel ability Most frequent travel is domestic.
  • Personal skills: Excellent communication skills, strong analytical abilities and problem- solving skills, capable of adapting to a fast-paced environment, team player. Candidate must demonstrate organization and time management skills with a strong attention to detail to balance and manage multiple tasks.
