About This Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Inspector I/II for our External Construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and productivity of strategic work projects. This role involves daily production monitoring, conducting job site observations, coordinating post-construction inspections, strategic planning, and fostering stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, as well as a comprehensive understanding of construction management principles.
What You’ll Do:
Daily Production Monitoring and Enforcement:
- Oversee the daily production activities on all strategic work projects, ensuring contractors submit accurate footage logs through Kinetic Ops and are meeting productivity targets.
- Analyze production data to verify adherence to project specifications and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement strategies to optimize production efficiency and enforce compliance with established production targets.
Job Site Observations:
- Conduct regular (daily) Job Site Observations (JSOs) to monitor contractor performance and project quality.
- Capture and document JSOs daily, providing insights into contractor efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
- Address any issues identified during JSOs promptly, collaborating with contractors to resolve inefficiencies and enhance project outcomes.
Post Construction Inspections:
- Coordinate and oversee post-construction inspections for 100% of strategic work projects, ensuring quality products are delivered to local operations teams.
- Facilitate hybrid inspections (VIT and on-site) or full in-person inspections, utilizing the most effective approach for each project.
- Review inspection results to confirm compliance with quality standards and address any deficiencies with contractors and stakeholders.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Contribute to the planning and execution of construction strategies that align with organizational goals and drive project success.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Provide insights and recommendations to enhance construction processes and achieve operational excellence.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison between contractors and other project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Represent the team's interests in meetings and discussions with local stakeholders within the community including local residence, local utility providers, and ROW/permitting agents including DOT inspectors, county or city engineers, HOA groups and many other third-party partners. 
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors to facilitate successful project outcomes and continuous improvement.
Do You Have?
- College degree in Engineering or a related field and 0-2 years professional level experience; or 4+ years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required. 
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to easily discern colors on the color work prints
- High School Degree or GED equivalent
- Strong understanding of OSP engineering prints and the ability to interpret and correct them
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a desire to help and guide others
- Ability to conduct detailed site walks and identify potential construction challenges
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes, ensuring the team is equipped with the latest tools for success.
- Experience in engaging with counties, townships, EMCs (Electric Membership Corporations), DOT, and tribal authorities to navigate regulatory requirements once the permits have been obtained by OSP Engineering and the Permit Team. 
- Extensive experience in OSP telecommunications construction.
- Experience working with local and state officials, including obtaining permits and ensuring regulatory compliance would be a plus
- Three years or more of any of the following: Communications construction, Field Operations, or OSP Engineering. Experience working with contractors would be a plus.
