Senior Legal Counsel

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will report to EL Regional General Counsel Americas and will be accountable and responsible for all legal and integrity support to the Electrification business operating in Brazil.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class legal advice, guidance, direction and legal counsel to all Electrification division teams operating in Brazil
  • Advise the sales teams on all commercial deals and transactions, including review/drafting/negotiation of contracts and tender related matters, and providing strategic direction on risk mitigation in the Electrification business.
  • Deliver training as needed to the division teams on various legal and integrity topics in the Electrification business.
  • Coordinate, drive, facilitate and enable resources, both internal and external, as required for activities related to M&A transactions in Brazil in the Electrification business.
  • Review and advise on legal documentation relating to M&A transactions in Brazil with support from Division Lead Counsels and Group M&A legal counsels.
  • Provide legal advice, direction and support on all Trade Compliance and Supply Chain Management matters ensuring compliance with policies and procedures in the Electrification business.
  • Advise on a variety of legal issues including corporate regulations, labor relations and employment matters, intellectual property, procurement, safety, disputes, claims and litigation, in strong collaboration with Group Center of Expertise in the Electrification business.

Your background

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and current Brazil bar admission and ability to be admitted as authorized in-house counsel, if applicable, and a minimum 10+years of corporate legal experience in-house
  • Minimum 10 years commercial/manufacturing legal experience in-house or at a law firm
  • Expertise in commercial law with proven track record in complex contractual work
  • Experience in local union, labor relations and employment laws will be a differentiation factor
  • Sound legal judgment in developing and implementing practical legal solutions
  • Comprehensive understanding of complex contractual legal matters
  • Results-oriented professional with strong common sense and superior business acumen.
  • Proven track record as being an independent and respected legal advisor, and ability to work in a complex, matrix structure where cooperation is often gained through influence rather than through direct command
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with superior time management and work prioritization skills
  • Collaborative individual with independent decision-making ability
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to compile and analyze regulatory and business information, assess risk, and provide resolutions or recommendations for process improvement
  • Ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Perfectly fluent in spoken and written Portuguese and English; Spanish a plus
  • Hybrid work in São Paulo.
