The opportunity
As an HVDC Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be part of the HVDC business at Hitachi Energy in Ludvika, Sweden. In this role, you will lead and execute commissioning activities for HVDC systems across global projects. You will be responsible for ensuring technical compliance, safety, and timely delivery of commissioning milestones, while collaborating closely with engineering, construction, and client teams.

You will join a multicultural and dynamic team, working in close collaboration with colleagues across the globe. This position is based in Ludvika, Sweden.
How you will make an impact
- Lead and execute commissioning activities for integration of equipment to HVDC Control & Protection systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and client teams to plan and deliver commissioning milestones on schedule.
- Perform system energization, functional testing, and troubleshooting of HVDC equipment including valve base electronics, control systems, and protection schemes.
- Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including test reports, punch lists, and progress tracking.
- Mentor and support junior commissioning engineers and technicians during site activities.
- Ensure adherence to HSE policies and proactively identify and mitigate risks during commissioning phases.
Your background
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or MBA in Project Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in commissioning of HV stations.
- Strong leadership and coordination skills with a proactive mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multicultural environments.
- Experience in troubleshooting and testing of HVDC systems and components.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in Swedish is a plus.
