Purpose of the job

The Demand Planner’s primary role is to develop an accurate demand forecast at multiple levels of aggregation over multiple time horizons, using market and sales insight to improve the forecast accuracy. The Demand Planner is “hands-on” and drives the creation of a statistical demand forecast, a baseline forecast and collaborate with other functional teams to develop a consensus forecast. The demand planner supports all the demand side S&OP processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and finished goods.
  • Creates and maintains forecast models for their customers/categories, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, and retailer replenishment analysts.
  • Develop weekly and monthly statistical forecasts.
  • Relate and measure the impact of forecast accuracy.
  • Assemble and analyze all data relevant to creating the consensus forecast (historical sales, market trends, seasonality, promotions, inventory policies and profiles, etc.).
  • Make recommended adjustments to generated statistical forecast based on changes in demand and market trends.
  • Review recommended sales forecasts and inventory goals (emphasis on product/segment objectives, new product introduction, and promotions).
  • Analyse historical demand and remove anomalies (including outliers) from the norm using historical information, knowledge of the category and through receiving input from the relevant functional departments (Sales and Marketing).
  • Review sales plans, finance budget updates or latest estimates and demand drivers.
  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by collaborating with sales, marketing, and finance departments in support of the S&OP process.
  • Enter and modify data and ensure the correctness of product / customer and location hierarchy.
  • Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to forecast accuracy and the demand planning process.
  • Follow Heineken Beverages policies and procedures and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Job Requirements 

Education

B. Com degree in disciplines such as Marketing, Economics, Business Management, Logistics and Supply Chain or related Supply Chain National Diploma (eg: SAPICS CPIM)

Experience

  • 5+ Years of hands-on experience in demand planning
  • 5+ Years of experience interacting with a sales, finance, and marketing departments with regards to inventory and commercial activities such as market demand trends, product seasonality, promotional campaigning, etc.

Job Description 

  • Experience in forecasting and inventory management systems
  • Exhibit skills in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft excel.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Strong knowledge of demand planning within CPG industry
  • Expert skills in demand management/forecasting tools, and forecasting methods incorporated with sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing, and supply chain factors.
  • Good communication and team working skills.
  • Detail and accuracy oriented
  • Nice to have: Experience in Blue Yonder Supply Chain software
