Job Description:

The New Graduate Nurse (NGN) is a student nurse who recently graduated or is within 30 days of graduating from a board approved pre-licensure nursing program and awaiting processing/delivery of the final transcripts/diploma and necessary paperwork required to apply for licensure exam by Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) necessary to place them in the Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description. The NGN position will provide scheduled work time for the associate to complete new hire corporate orientation and participate in an onsite National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) RN review course and study sessions.

Job Duties:

New Graduate Nurse Responsibilities

  1. Attends corporate orientation
  2. Attends all scheduled NCLEX Review Course sessions
  3. Attends all scheduled study sessions
  4. Schedules and successfully completes NCLEX-RN withing 30 days of receiving authorization to test (ATT)

Professional and Technical Service

  1. Demonstrates ability to follow directions, both oral and written and work cooperatively with others.
  2. Responsible for own personal growth and development as it relates to job duties and performance.
  3. Attends required education programs

Quality/Customer Service

  1. Respects ethnic origin, spiritual beliefs and privacy/confidentiality
  2. Participates in departmental meetings as assigned

Financial

  1. Uses resources of SEH in a respectful and cost-effective manner.
  2. Required to sign a work obligation payback agreement equivalent to 1 year full time (2080 hours) as RN.

Qualifications

MINIMUM

DESIRABLE

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

Student nurse who recently graduated or is within 30 days of graduating from a board approved pre-licensure nursing program.

Must provide proof of enrollment/completion of a board-approved prelicensure nursing program.

Required to apply for licensure exam in the state of Kentucky, schedule and successfully complete NCLEX within 30 days of receiving authorization to test (ATT).

BSN Program

Specialized Knowledge:

Completion or within 30 days of completion of a board-approved prelicensure nursing program.

Demonstrates academic knowledge of nursing theory, clinical practice standards, and procedures.

BLS certification

Kind and Length of Experience:

Prior experience as a nursing assistant in hospital or long-term care environment is desirable.

Prior experience with Epic, computerized documentation system.
