Position Overview

The Teller Supervisor has direct supervisory responsibilities and carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing employee’s work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, performance coaching, and resolving issues; interviewing, hiring and training. Overall, this position is responsible for managing the daily Teller function for a branch, including compliance with policies/procedures, customer service, and sales. 

Essential Job Functions (for Teller Supervisors without Vault Responsibilities):

  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory, security and bank policies and procedures relating to the Teller area.
  • Provides teller staff with necessary training, motivation and encouragement to ensure superior customer service and accuracy.
  • Monitors staffing needs through scheduling to ensure proper coverage.
  • Responsible to coach each teller to the assigned referral goal each month.
  • Completes monthly and annual performance reviews utilizing teller performance records and the quarterly Teller Bonus Program.
  • Implements and monitors the quarterly Teller Bonus Program.
  • Maintains teller currency level requirements and orders sufficient cash to support the teller operation.
  • Conducts audits and security tests as scheduled.
  • Interviews and hires and staff.
  • Makes check/cash disbursement decision and signs official checks.
  • Coaches staff to ensure quality back-up is available during the supervisor's absence.
  • Participates actively in the branches efforts to reach assigned sales referral goals through meeting assigned individual goals.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participates in required in-house training sessions relating to sales, customer services, policies and procedures, compliance, product knowledge and Bank system.
  • Works in a teller window as needed.
  • Monitors timecards and completes all required reports.
  • Flexibility in assisting other branch staffing needs.
  • Remits special services items to ensure proper handling.
  • Keeps a sufficient supply of cashier’s checks, Money Orders, and other supplies necessary for day-to-day operations of the teller area.
  • Provides feedback on customer concerns relating to product features, pricing, new product development needs and servicing.

Responsibilities for Teller Supervisors with Vault Management (only applicable for certain branches):

  • Processes mail deposits which include loan payments, safe deposits, savings deposits, and checking deposits.
  • Processes coin orders for business customers and tellers requesting change.
  • Processes and balances all ATM transactions for all Bancorp ATMs for the entire bank.
  • Manages commercial deposits through armored services.
  • Heavy lifting/pushing carts on coin boxes and coin bags.
  • Orders money and sends currency shipments to other branches.
  • Accurately and efficiently processes customer/business customers financial transactions.
  • Strictly following bank procedures and identifying fraudulent activity to prevent potential losses to the bank.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School (or equivalent) and two or more years of teller or banking experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lift/push up to 50lbs.
  • Must work onsite to perform responsibilities of this position.

  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in balancing and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrates initiative, dependability, flexibility and good decision- making skills.
  • Above average keyboard / computer, math and accuracy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to be a fair and effective supervisor.

Preferred, but not required: 

  • Some college level courses desirable.
  • Five or more years banking experience and teller responsibilities preferred.
  • Sales experience preferred.
