The Operations Research Analyst provides analytical support to the Intelligence and Operations communities. This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to improve decision-making, evaluate operational performance, and develop actionable solutions to mission challenges. The Analyst applies proven modeling, simulation, and evaluation techniques to assess effectiveness, identify problem areas, and recommend data-driven courses of action.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Data Collection & Analysis
- Collect, organize, and analyze data relevant to intelligence and operational missions
- Evaluate current operations and processes using quantitative and qualitative methods
- Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of mission activities and resource utilization
2. Modeling & Simulation
- Apply operations research methodologies, models, and simulations to assess mission performance
- Conduct scenario-based analyses to evaluate alternatives and predict potential outcomes
- Utilize statistical and mathematical techniques to support operational planning
3. Problem Identification & Solution Development
- Isolate inefficiencies and problem areas within current processes
- Formulate and analyze alternative solutions to mission challenges
- Provide recommendations based on quantitative evidence and mission requirements
4. Reporting & Decision Support
- Prepare reports that clearly outline, rank, and justify proposed solutions
- Present findings and alternatives to senior leaders and stakeholders
- Support decision-making by providing business case analyses and cost-benefit evaluations
5. Collaboration & Integration
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams across intelligence, operations, and planning communities
- Ensure analytic methodologies and recommendations align with DoD policy, doctrine, and mission requirements
- Support integration of analytic solutions into operational and strategic planning efforts
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Must possess an active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing operations research, quantitative analysis, or decision support in military or government environments
- Demonstrated experience in modeling, simulation, and business case analysis
- Proven ability to evaluate complex systems, processes, and operations
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences
