What to Expect

We are seeking an energetic, team-oriented people-person to be responsible for the performance of Quality technicians and inspectors on various shifts at Gigafactory Buffalo. The Quality Supervisor will manage a team of technicians and inspectors to ensure they perform at a high level while meeting the needs of the production floor and product quality. The individual will be responsible for quality assurance related metrics for their shift. The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for performance managing their team to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability.

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM 

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday 

What You’ll Do

  • Guide and coordinate Technicians and Inspectors on shift, taking primary ownership for their training and ability to maintain conformance to quality procedures and specifications
  • Guide and coordinate training efforts on the production floor to ensure manufacturing procedures are being maintained and interact with the manufacturing team members to determine shift priorities and allocation of labor
  • Support Quality Assurance/Quality Control initiative and improve quality in module and electronics manufacturing. Align with Quality engineering team to disposition material and drive to eliminate scrap and areas of low yield
  • Adhere to strict 5S standards and maintain cleanliness on the floor and within automation cells and observe all safety policies during the execution of required tasks
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and written/verbal instructions and maintain quality performance metrics and drive issues to root cause solutions
  • Required to work with and around hazardous areas while auditing manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Provide coaching and training to technicians, trainers, and inspectors while defining goals and performance metrics

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree, evidence of exceptional ability, or equivalent
  • Must understand general manufacturing processes, quality methodologies, and team leadership while demonstrating reliability, initiative, and desire to learn and teach
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization
  • Capable of providing constructive feedback to subordinate and maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required and a preferred experience with quality methods/analysis, familiarity with process control/charts, defect identification and analysis, SPC, FMEA
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and sit, stand, and/or walk for 12+ hours per day, wear air purifying respirator as needed for specific tasks, Lift at least 10 -20 lbs on a regular basis, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and sometimes may have to twist and bend body, Ability to climb ladders/stairs, work in loud environment. Ability to discern audible alarms, be able to distinguish colors and possess accurate depth perception
  • Strong aptitude with electronic and mechanic test and measurements systems and proficiency at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams. Ability to use technological tools such as touch screen displays, and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data

Expected Compensation

$64,600 - $183,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
