The Health Force Division at Ontario Health is driving transformative change in health human resources (HHR) across the province. With a focus on building workforce capacity in critical areas, supporting equitable access for priority populations, and delivering rapid-response solutions to system challenges, this division is at the forefront of shaping Ontario’s healthcare future.

As Lead, Health Workforce Operations, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of multiple Health Workforce Integration (HWI) programs. Supporting the Manager, Health Workforce Strategic Supports you’ll oversee a team of operations coordinators, champion service excellence, and streamline day-to-day operations. From managing stakeholder inquiries and optimizing workloads to monitoring contracts and escalating urgent issues, you’ll be the operational backbone of a high-impact team working to stabilize and strengthen Ontario’s health workforce.

There are 4 positions available

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Monitors multiple high volume program email accounts and phone queues supported by a team of operations coordinators to ensure timely and consistent responses to client/stakeholder inquiries.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on multiple HWI programs and services, effectively able to support staff in responding to complex client/stakeholder inquiries on eligibility, program parameters and status.
  • Knowledge of relevant health human resources stakeholders, regulators and associations to appropriately direct health professional client and employer inquiries and identify collaborative solutions.
  • Identifies and rapidly escalates urgent often politically sensitive issues to ensure appropriate responses.
  • Assists the Manager, Health Workforce Strategic Supports with the development of workplans to ensure effective program operations.
  • Acts as a key resource to a team of operations coordinators, identifying day-to-day priorities in conjunction with the Manager, Health Workforce Strategic Supports and supporting escalation as required.
  • Supports the drafting and review of program reports as required.
  • Ensures effective program operations through comprehensive document/contract management and tracking.
  • Responsible for technical solutions to HFO website including the use of Salesforce
  • Responds to and mitigates against program risks and identifies opportunities for program improvement and optimization.
  • Acts as key internal and external contact/representative for program reporting and all operational issues.
  • Collates feedback received from health professionals and employers, and utilizes feedback to support program operational objectives and/or make recommendations to enhance services and achieve system goals.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree; or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years of overall work experience focused on operations in a fast-paced environment, including at least 3 years leading complex projects/initiatives.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset
  • Experience working in a health human resources-related role, including understanding of both health professional and healthcare organizational perspectives.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Organizational skills to manage a high volume of workload and support others in optimizing and prioritizing their work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tools and processes to ensure effective program operations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to clearly respond to inquiries on complex issues.
  • Consensus building skills to support responding to challenging client/stakeholder issues.
  • Leadership skills to help mentor team members and be seen as a key internal resource.
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify potential program issues and mitigate risks.
  • Knowledge of the health human resources landscape, including a demonstrated understanding of both employer and health professional perspectives.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program goals.
  • Strong technical skills, including the ability analyze and present program data.
