Role Description

As Rentalcars continues its journey to be a fully data driven organisation, we are looking for an exceptional self-led data analyst who wants to join the Rides Team – currently branded as Rideways. This team has been formed as an internal start-up – currently focusing on offering pre-booked taxis –  and retains the autonomy and fast-paced environment you would expect from this.

This role would be Data Analyst (Customer), and work closely with our Demand team, alongside the Acquisition and Development Product teams. You would also work with the Rentalcars Data & Reporting and Data Sciences product teams, to ensure best practices are followed within Rides. The scope is broad, and covers working with Engineers to ensure data quality, through to partnering with business owners to deliver insights. It would report into the Senior Analyst for Rides.

This is a new role and a fantastic opportunity to work with big data, new technologies and on innovative data science projects, analysing, validating and shaping data held in GA, SQL and Hadoop data stores. The focus will be on delivering customer insights in many forms, whilst taking a systematic approach to creating useful data sets to enable advanced analysis as well as measuring success of initiatives, products and business changes.

Skills and experience that we are looking for

  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Strong SQL and Google Analytics skills for querying and exploring data sets
  • Proven experience delivering insight from disparate data sets
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to varied and non-technical stakeholders
  • A flair for developing insightful analysis and solving real business problems using data
  • Technically capable in at least one data technology (e.g. R, SQL, SAS etc)
  • Experience of working in eCommerce with high velocity event data would be a plus
  • Working knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau would be a strong plus
  • Working knowledge of Google BigQuery would be a big plus
  • Experience with statistical and Machine Learning modelling techniques would be a strong plus
  • Ability to talk the language of Data Science

Key Accountabilities

  • Support & drive CRO using A/B (& multivariate) testing
  • Support & drive customer experience improvements
  • Suggest, create and implement fundamental improvements to website performance
  • Use a selection of analytics tools to evaluate and optimise website performance
  • Execute quantitative analysis from multiple data sources to develop hypotheses and challenge assumptions that underpin the strategic direction of the team
  • Ensure repeatable datasets are built where needed (e.g. after one-off analyses that could be used elsewhere)
  • Work effectively with diverse stakeholders across multiple departments within the business, including developers and architects
  • Able to defend analytical approach & explain benefits & drawbacks regardless of audience
