Senior Business Intelligence Analyst CNHF - (230003L3)

The CNHF Sr Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will report to the Director of Data Science and is responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality and usage of the Foundation's data warehouse and business intelligence stack. This position services fundraising efforts across the Foundation by generating and analyzing data and creating dashboard visualizations and reporting to enable our senior staff and leadership team to determine best strategies, segmentations, applications, and approaches. Partners with various teams, including fundraisers, events, philanthropic communications, and operations to develop and implement reporting, dashboards, and business intelligence tools. This position requires a combination of technical, project management, and fundraising expertise. Works with teams to gather intelligence needs and criteria, design and oversee the creation of business intelligence tools and visualizations, and manage the rollout and implementation to our various teams. In addition to ensuring accuracy of our intelligence tools, the Sr BI Analyst is also responsible to facilitate data cohesiveness between the data warehouse and our various other data systems including our database of record, The Raiser's Edge, and Luminate. Ideally possesses expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, Tableau, and Excel, understand non-profit fundraising best practices, and have excellent communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Master's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience

8 years professional experience with a proven track record of strategic planning and execution of emerging technologies in the non-profit industry. (Required)

6 years related, progressive experience with Crystal Reports or similar SQL-based reporting platform preferably in a development or fundraising environment (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and relational database software including a working knowledge of querying and reporting from databases.

Strong with help-desk functions and excellent customer support.

Proficiency with web-based reporting.

Attention to detail and strong interpersonal, communication, training, and organizational skills required, as is the ability to work effectively in a team Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

Functional Accountabilities

Ensures Optimal Functionality and Usage of Data Warehouse and BI Stack

  • Contributes to the strategic planning for the expansion and long term use of the Foundation’s data warehouse.
  • Facilitates data cohesiveness between the data warehouse and our various other data systems including our database of record, The Raisers Edge, and Luminate.
  • Leads the data transformation process to convert the RE production database to a reporting database.
  • Performs database administration/programming functions such as building and updating stored procedures, virtual fields, subroutines, application customizations, database structures and report generation under the supervision of the Director, Data Services and Business Analytics.
  • Creates processes within the data warehouse to measure and monitor data integrity and provide regular feedback to the data services team.
  • Maintains clear, complete and up to date documentation on reporting processes.

Services Fundraising Efforts

  • Partners with various teams, including fundraisers, events, philanthropic communications, and operations to develop and implement reporting, dashboards, and business intelligence tools.
  • Works with teams to gather intelligence needs and criteria, design and oversee the creation of business intelligence tools and visualizations, and manage the rollout and implementation to various departmental teams.
  • Develops and publishes reports from the Foundation’s data warehouse that will provide information as required by Foundation staff in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors.
  • Generates and analyzes data and creating dashboard visualizations and reporting that is easily understood, modifiable and replicated to enable our senior staff and leadership team to determine best strategies, segmentations, applications, and approaches.
  • Executes query and reporting requests and data overlays within established deadlines.
  • Consistently monitors and evaluates reporting services for efficiency and effectiveness and makes adjustments as needed.

Performance Improvement/Problem-solving

  • Serves as liaison with database vendors, third party consultants for technical problems associated with the data warehouse and server environment, and coordinate contact and corrective actions.
  • Proactively assists users in determining more efficient ways to obtain and interpret Foundation Raiser’s Edge data.
  • Troubleshoots data system problems and resolve system related problems.
  • Establishes intra-department training in order to create department-wide reporting skills.
  • Maintains documentation on all customizations with special attention to reducing the impact of database patches and new release loads.
