The Program

At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten weeks, interns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.

In addition to individual department responsibilities, interns will also participate in the program’s capstone event, the Innovation in Action Case Competition. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative and comprehensive solution to a business problem currently facing Novo Nordisk. At the conclusion of the program, teams will present their findings to a board of top Novo Nordisk officials representing the various lines of business.

Program Start: June 3rd, 2024.

Program End: August 9th, 2024.

Scope of Position

Cultivate a Practically Informed Business Ethics Mindset in Summer 2024. At Novo Nordisk Inc. The focus of the internship program is to provide students with the opportunity to work on health care compliance projects under the supervision of experienced ethics & compliance professionals within NAPO. The intern may partner with other teams both within the Ethics & Compliance department and other lines of business throughout NNI, including but not limited to, Legal and Corporate Affairs. The intern will become familiar with numerous laws and regulations governing the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, particularly those related to privacy, including state privacy laws, HIPAA, and GDPR, and how these regulations impact NNI.

The 2024 intern within the NNI Ethics & Compliance Department – NAPO will focus on supporting the NAPO to: (a) continue its implementation of privacy law requirements at NNI with a particular emphasis on comprehensive privacy regulations at the federal and state levels in the United States; (b) monitor and report on legislative action related to privacy laws; (c) prepare research memoranda on interpretations of emerging and existing privacy laws as well as other pertinent privacy topics affecting the pharmaceutical industry; (d) help create additional efficiencies and methodologies for NAPO's agile privacy management program; and (e) experience real world application of privacy law into compliance operations. Additional responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of NAPO and status of existing projects.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student enrolled or recently graduated (graduation date no earlier than April 2024) at/from an accredited college or university pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree.
  • A completed or in progress bachelor’s degree in Data Privacy, Ethics, Cybersecurity or a related discipline preferred.
  • General knowledge and familiarity with privacy frameworks, including HIPAA/HITECH, NIST, FTC Act, and CCPA/CPRA preferred, but not required.
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and intellectually curious.
  • Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers.
  • Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
