Senior Director, Executive Compensation:  Become the Newest Member of the VF Family  

As the Senior Director of Executive Compensation, you will have the responsibility for leading the design, development, implementation planning and delivery of VF’s executive compensation and equity programs in support of senior executives and the Talent and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors. This role reports to the VP, Total Rewards and People Services. In this position you should be analytical and possess excellent problem solving and influencing skills, as well as a deep technical expertise in executive compensation programs. You will need to demonstrate that you are a subject matter expert in the area of Executive Compensation.

How You Will Make a Difference:  

You will focus on executive compensation programs on a global scale, including: executive base pay, annual incentive plan design, long-term equity compensation programs, proxy reporting, external trends analysis and regulatory disclosure and compliance. In addition, this position will collaborate with Rewards COE team members and senior HR leaders in support of global compensation projects as applicable to executive compensation.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Develop a robust and comprehensive executive rewards strategy/philosophy and plans that aligns with business objectives and attracts top talent - Anticipate future trends and implications for the executive rewards program/Provide ongoing evaluation of incentive programs to ensure alignment with strategy
  • Annual Incentive Plan design
  • Equity plan design, including plan participation, usage, and modeling of performance unit scenarios 
  • Creation of materials for presentation to the Talent and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors;
  • Development of compensation related materials in support of the proxy, including the development of compensation-related disclosures (CD&A) and other filings (CEO Pay Ratio) as required
  • Lead the research and benchmarking of compensation best practices, monitoring of legal developments, evaluating emerging trends, keeping appraised of technological advancements and conducting benchmark comparisons
  • Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance with all governmental regulations related to executive rewards programs/ Interfaces with Legal, Accounting, Tax, Audit, and others regarding compensation programs to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Skills for Success:  

Years of Related Professional Experience: 10+ years 

Educational/ Position Requirements:  

  • A Bachelor’s degree and experience executive compensation or executive compensation consulting, including responsibility for preparing materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board 
  • Experience in stock plan administration including compliance with applicable GAAP, FAS123R, SEC, IRC, and DOL regulations 
  • Knowledge of long-term incentive programs to include design and administration
  • Knowledge of stock plan design and grant practice implications for countries around the globe 
  • Detail oriented with ability to develop accurate work deliverables with a professional finish 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels in the organization 
  • Ability to influence, gain acceptance of ideas, and negotiate solutions without damage to relationship 
  • Discretion and sensitivity in the handling of confidential information 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment 
  • Self-directed with critical thinking ability
  • Collaborative, positive, results-oriented
  • Superior data analysis skills and demonstrated ability to draw meaningful conclusions and action plan on the basis of quantitative data, employee survey data, competitive data and anecdotal observations 
  • Demonstrated ability to design programs that are effective in motivating results and optimizing performance 
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, flexibility, self-motivation and strong analytical skills 
    Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to create and deliver presentation material 

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:  

  • Travel by air and overnight, as required
