Overview
We're seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager: Data Governance & Quality to lead the enterprise-wide data governance strategy and ensure data quality across the organization. In this role, you will define and enforce governance policies, roles, and standards; oversee data quality metrics and remediation processes; and work closely with legal, risk, compliance, and technical teams to meet regulatory obligations. You will be a champion of data stewardship, embedding governance principles into platforms, data products, and operational processes to drive business value and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, including policies, roles, stewardship, and standards.
- Define and enforce data quality metrics, KPIs, and remediation processes.
- Oversee metadata management, data lineage, and cataloguing tools.
- Partner with legal, risk, and compliance teams to meet regulatory data obligations.
- Chair or support data governance councils and stakeholder working groups.
- Embed governance practices into platforms, data products, and operational processes.
- Promote a data ownership and stewardship culture across business domains.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Data Governance, Data Management, or MBA (preferred).
Experience:
- 8–12 years of experience in data governance, data management, or information quality roles.
- Proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks in complex, regulated environments (e.g., financial services, fintech, telecoms).
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across business, risk, legal, compliance, and technical teams.
- Familiarity with data regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, BCBS 239) and enterprise data management principles (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – DAMA.
- DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model).
