Join SADA as a Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect, Data Engineering 

Your Mission

As a Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect at SADA, with a specialization in Data and Analytics you will have significant knowledge and experience with “everything data.” You will have held different roles throughout your extensive career enabling you to work with many different technologies and industries.

As part of your role, you will collaborate with various teams, including customers, engineering, sales, and Googlers.

You will be responsible for overseeing Data & Analytics projects for large and intricate client engagements, sometimes acting as our “account CTO.” 

You’ll run discovery calls, workshops, etc to work with customers, Google and Sada.

You’ll provide estimations and work on Statements of Work (SOW) and related supporting material.

You will design world class data-architectures and solve hard problems.

You will have a hands-on approach, researching and presenting solutions, conducting experiments, and building prototypes to validate ideas and demonstrate the effectiveness of the solutions you recommend. You will also, at times, spearhead the development of projects and lead other engineers to deliver on your vision.

What you would be doing on a daily basis:

  • Work on different types of projects in various stages of development, including pre-sales/scoping, discovery, and architecting solutions
  • Oversee executing projects that could be greenfield data warehouse implementations, database re-platforming, consolidating data, to migrating data warehouses to GCP
  • Prototype Proof of Concepts for customer/team feedback
  • Quality-Review solutions delivered by other engineers on the project
  • Deliver hands-on technical mentoring and leadership to engineers on the project, especially when using niche architectural patterns. Keep the communication channels with the client transparent to update on progress, gather feedback, and evaluate opportunities.
  • Assist the Project Managers and Clients in making high-impact decisions to improve the quality/time-to-market of the delivery where relevant.
  • Shepherd high-impact PRs and changes to the required environments to extract client feedback as early as possible

You will inspire cross-functional leadership from our engineering teams. You will be trusted to guide large enterprise engagements and given the freedom to build new solutions that meet customer needs.

You will establish yourself as a renowned specialist within SADA, earning a reputation with customers and with the Google Cloud sales and professional services teams for your wide-ranging domain knowledge. Other engineers and architects will routinely defer to your expertise when it comes to the delivery of project architectures. In your role, you'll manage client-oriented technical conversations. Collaborating with client architects and technology heads, you will take on the design of expansive and extended client initiatives.

Success will be measured by Client satisfaction, deals won, and by your contributions to the team’s goals.

Expectations

Required Travel - Up to 25% travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events. 

Customer Facing - This is a customer-facing role. You will interact with customers on a daily basis. You will participate in calls and customer meetings to qualify for consultative engagements with engineering and business teams. You will present solutions, architectures, SOWs, demos, and other technical materials to build trust and confidence in SADA’s ability to take the customer through their cloud adoption. 

Onboarding/Training - The first several weeks of onboarding are dedicated to learning and will encompass learning materials/assignments and compliance training, as well as meetings with relevant individuals. Details of the timeline are shared closer to the start date.

Job Requirements

Required Credentials:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or 10 years of relevant work experience in software development.

Google Professional Data Engineer or able to complete one of the above within the first 90 days of employment. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering and architecture, with a focus on cloud-based environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying scalable, reliable, and enterprise-grade data solutions and managing them in production.
  • Expertise in development with languages commonly used in data processing, such as Spark, SQL, Python, or Java.
  • Prior experience in designing, building, and managing robust, user-friendly data pipelines.
  • Experience in leading intricate, long-term customer projects. Examples may include transitioning from one cloud to another, re-architecting monolithic data systems into microservices, or implementing large-scale new data applications on the cloud.
  • Experience providing leadership, supervision, and direction in data-oriented projects, ideally in a high-growth organization.
  • Experience in strategizing, designing, architecting, and leading the deployment of scalable data solutions with a focus on cloud-based systems.
  • Experience facilitating technical design sessions, architecting and documenting data solutions aligned with client business objectives, and identifying gaps between the client's current and desired end states.
  • Ability to evaluate and select suitable technologies and frameworks to meet specific data project needs, while assessing risks and trade-offs.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance, and secure data architectures.
  • Ability to architect, scope, and prioritize work based on feedback from the customer or internal teams.
  • Experience working with customers in a consulting capacity, including persuading them to adopt more efficient technologies and processes.
  • Deep understanding of various types of databases, both relational and NoSQL.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple streams.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies, industry trends, and best practices in data architecture and cloud computing.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing business requirements and technologies in a fast-paced environment delivering real-time data applications using streaming data technologies like Apache Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, or Amazon Kinesis.
  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform, particularly serverless (Cloud Functions) and platforms (Dataflow, BigQuery, DataProc, DataForm).

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Any familiarity with Machine Learning, AI, Generative AI
  • Experience with cloud data offerings and solutions (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS).
