The Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Workplace Operations to oversee Turn/River’s workplace strategy and administrative operations. Reporting to the COO, this role will be a central operational leader ensuring the firm runs smoothly day-to-day while also driving strategic projects—most immediately, an office buildout at our San Francisco headquarters. The ideal candidate is an experienced, motivational people manager, equally comfortable with high-level decision-making and hands-on execution, and adept at working across a range of personalities and functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of Turn/River’s physical work environments, including our San Francisco headquarters, an international office, and flexible/temporary workspaces (e.g., WeWork).
- Manage and develop the Operations PM and lead the planning and execution of the new HQ buildout (within existing building), including vendor selection, space design, construction project management, and move logistics.
- Manage workplace budgets, leases, facilities, supplies, and vendor relationships to ensure operational excellence.
- Lead and develop the EA Manager and Team, ensuring the Executive Assistant team is high-performing, collaborative, and proactive in anticipating leadership needs.
- Serve as an escalation point and problem-solver for the EA function, ensuring smooth operations for senior leaders.
- Partner with the IT Manager to oversee firm-wide technology rollouts, ensuring clear communication, training, and smooth adoption.
- Act as the operational bridge between IT, leadership, and end users for prioritization, resourcing, and implementation planning.
- Lead operational projects that span multiple functions, ensuring alignment, timely delivery, and strong execution.
- Anticipate potential issues and proactively develop solutions to maintain a seamless employee experience.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in operations or workplace management; experience in private equity, finance, or high-growth professional services preferred.
- 5+ years demonstrated experience leading and developing diverse teams across multiple operational functions
- Track record of successfully leading firm-wide projects (e.g., office buildouts, technology rollouts).
- Highly organized and decisive, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across personalities and levels.
- Demonstrated judgment, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, Mac OS; familiarity with project management tools
- Bachelor’s degree required.

Compensation
- The annual base salary for this role is $280,000 - $290,000 taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.
- This role is eligible to participate in the Turn/River carry program and a discretionary bonus program.
