What You Will Do:

The leader will drive and support a global team of sellers and technical pre / post sales resources that accelerate customer engagement at scale for Johnson Controls. The role requires a dynamic, high-energy, highly-effective and engaging leader with a strong foundation in business leadership, strategy development, sales execution, deep industry expertise, and a proven track record for leading executive teams.

The successful leader adeptly leads and mobilizes cross-company teams including, PBU’s, digital, services as well as customer support teams and executive executives (VP, President) to commit to drive Johnson Controls’ strategic business in across a breadth of accounts / customers, focused on demonstrable qualitative and quantitative outcomes. This role is accountable for enabling strong sales growth, increased share of wallet, and leading world class solutions through advanced technology, dramatically improving outcomes for customers and drive change for the industry. The role is responsible for delivering GCOE effectiveness metrics and developing the team into a growth engine for the enterprise.

With a mix of competitive intelligence, market research, data science, advanced analytics, access, process design, automation tools, and forecasting, the digital transformation and design delivery team unlocks key design insights for our internal partners that ultimately benefit our customers. This leader helps the application engineering teams to learn from design to design and automates the processes employed to prepare technical designs for decreased cycle time, improved proposal quality, and increased win rate.

The GCOE Digital Transformation and Design Delivery leader exists to help the organization achieve its vision by unlocking value from more quickly and effectively. As a center of excellence, the team has 3 primary remits: Owning Advanced Process Automation Strategy and Innovation for the GCOE; Application of Data Science developed by others to the GCOE and ISS enterprise priorities and driving the inclusion of Data Science Capability on behalf of the GCOE and ISS teams. The team leverages advanced data science capabilities, working with the GCOE and ISS to develop strategic and holistic solutions by identifying and leading innovative design and delivery projects and pilots to enable the GCOE and ISS to deliver for our customers.

How You Will Do It:

Executive Director, GCOE Digital Transformation and Delivery will build and grow a team of engineers and lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge design solutions for the growing GCOE organization.

As the Executive Director, GCOE Digital Transformation and Delivery, you will be responsible for designing and implementing AI/ML systems to support organizational initiatives. You will work closely with the software development and data science teams to design, build, and implement AI/ML models that are accurate, efficient, scalable, and secure. Your role will involve working with stakeholders to identify business needs and requirements, proposing technical solutions, and leading the implementation of the chosen solutions.

Responsibilities:

Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of technology and business strategists, focused on Ops Engineering, Feature Engineering, and advanced application Engineering, fostering their growth and ensuring they perform at their best as they align a team of teams to the GCOE’s strategic objectives.

Work closely with business stakeholders to identify business needs and requirements, proposing bespoke or OTS technical solutions that leverage technologies.

Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization's technical landscape, data infrastructure, and data processing pipelines in partnership with the central operations team.

Work with the data science team to identify the appropriate algorithms and models for specific business problems and implement them in production systems.

Work with the software development team to integrate design systems with existing business applications and data systems.

Develop and maintain documentation for AI/ML systems, including technical specifications, system architecture diagrams, and user guides.

Ensure that systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements, such as data privacy laws and industry standards.

Keep up to date with emerging AI/ML technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization's technical landscape.

Develop strategic technical solutions for stakeholders and constituents that appropriately consider available facts, constraints, competitive circumstances, strategic priorities, and probable consequences; clearly connecting solutions to business needs.

Passionately sell the organization’s strategy; continuously raising expectations of sales performance; encouraging and supporting team efforts to achieve and exceed challenging sales goals.

Ensure that the customer’s perspective is a driving force behind strategic priorities, business decisions, organizational processes, and individual activities; crafting and implementing service practices that meet customers’ and own organization’s needs; promoting and operationalizing customer service as a value.

Create and execute influence strategies that gain commitment and organizational buy-in for presales technical solutions; persuade key stakeholders to take action by demonstrating how the work will advance shared interests and business goals and is tied to our vision.

Initiate and maintain strategic global relationships with stakeholders and potential partners inside and outside the organization (e.g., customers, peers, cross-functional partners, external vendors, alliance partners) who are willing and able to provide the information, ideas, expertise, and/or influence needed to advance understanding of business issues and achieve business goals

Use one’s knowledge of economic, financial, market, and industry trends to understand and improve customer results; using one’s understanding of major business functions, industry trends, and own organization’s position to contribute to effective business strategies and/or tactics.

Establish and commit to a long-term business direction based on an analysis of systemic information and consideration of resources, market drivers, organizational values, and emerging economic, technological, and regulatory conditions; creating a plan with specific goals, targets, and milestones that are tied to our vision and support the customer while balancing the global and local focus.

Drive organizational and cultural changes needed to achieve strategic objectives; catalyzing new approaches to improve results by transforming organizational culture, systems, or products/services; helping others overcome resistance to change; being a catalyst and model for change.

What We Look For:

A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, computer science, mathematics or related field; a master’s degree in a related field is highly preferred

At least 15 years of experience in a similar roles, indicating personal and professional growth throughout

Documented experience building consensus with the C-suite, including presenting and negotiating large opportunities with compelling business cases and securing executive buy-in

Knowledge of the technology and industry ecosystem, including the interplay between large investor-owned companies

Technical inclination to build an in-depth knowledge of technology roadmaps and digital strategies to create customer solutions in the built environment

Emotionally intelligent (EQ) and cooperative mindset, starting each day with tactical and strategic goals in mind and a high degree of passion and enthusiasm.
