As the Design Director you are responsible for leading and driving the concepts of each season for your categories that are reflective of the overall creative vision and Lands’ End brand aesthetic. The Design Director guides the design team to meet all critical milestones necessary. This position leads the design teams by creating an environment that fosters growth and success for both the product and team members. The Design Director partners with the Sr Design Director and is entrusted to make decisions that support the Global Brand strategy and represent the very best interest of the customer and employee. This position requires a confident, mature, strategic leader who will proactively drive the business through customer insights and marketplace knowledge.

Job Functions: 

1. Lead the design and development of Lands’ End products by interpreting ideas and concepts into finished product through collaboration with Merchandising and Product Development.

2. Lead research and development that encourages new ideas and innovation.

3. Partner with design leaders in other categories to drive consistent creative vision across the brand.

5. Lead seasonal line plans, follow product development calendar deadlines and be aware of responsibilities for key milestone meetings.

6. Create a collaborative, innovative, and results oriented environment with peers, teams, and global cross functional partners.

7. Build and retain a highly talented Design organization.

8. Challenge new ways of thinking by creating an environment that fosters idea generation, creativity and ownership of product.

9. Provide coaching, training, and feedback to design team. Responsible for onboarding of team members, ensuring team has been given the tools and on-the-job training needed to perform their job. Responsible for providing team members the experiences needed to continue to develop in their role.

10. Represent Design in Key initiatives (task force, projects etc.) as assigned.

11. Must follow all safe work practices, escalate unsafe conditions and report incidents.

Skills:

1. 10+ years of experience and a degree in Apparel or Fashion Design

2. Exceptional communication and presentation skills within teams and cross functional partners

3. Ability to communicate and translate Lands’ End vision

4. Exceptional understanding of textile construction, color and printing techniques.

5. Understands the Lands’ End brand and will deliver product that exceeds the customer’s expectations; passion for customer service.

6. Strong ability to lead, develop and retain talent.

7. Passion for innovation and technology

8. Strong leadership skills to establish clear direction in a challenging environment bringing out the best in employees.

9. Ability to lead and manage teams and large-scale projects

10. Able to develop constructive and effective relationships with direct report team and cross-functional partners; able to maintain credibility and presence within the broader business.

11. Travel is required.

The pay range for this position is $139,6000 - $192,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographical location, and business or organizational needs. This position may also be eligible for annual merit increase, bonus, and/or incentive compensation. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, health, dental, vision, and disability benefits.
