About The Role

Accountabilities:

  • Support the Project Team in all relevant HSE issues
  • Assist the Project Team to carry out on-site H&S inspections and audits on behalf of Hitachi Rail STS and its Subcontractors, and monitor the application of H&S contractual requirements
  • Assist the H&S Project Referent in maintaining all H&S aspects in accordance with the Company's Safety and Environmental Management system according to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Participate in H&S coordination meetings with the Client and Subcontractors
  • Carry out H&S coordination activities and formalize (meeting minutes) with the Client, Hitachi Rail STS, subcontractors during the completion of the work
  • Ensure the development and review of Safety, Environment, Emergency Response and Risk Assessment Plans
  • Work on the issuance, verification, and control of Safety, Environment, Emergency Intervention, H&S Risk Assessment, and Method Declarations on site (documents specific to the Subcontractor)
  • Transmit information to help employees (induction training) on risks, prevention and protection measures, safety and environmental dangers; Organize awareness and training sessions on Safety and the Environment
  • Carry out investigations and analyses of Accidents in matters of Safety and Environment
  • Collect data for all H&S performance indicators and report them to the STS Project H&S Officer (regularly) by preparing and submitting periodic reports to the H&S Manager of Hitachi Rail STS (Progress of Safety and Environment Activities, simulations of emergency interventions, accidents, incidents, near-misses, control of subcontractors, etc.)
  • Provide comments and suggestions, verbal or written, on occupational health, safety, and how to avoid workplace accidents
  • Support the HSE Project Manager to carry out the OHSE audit and legal compliance audit in the work areas of Hitachi Rail STS and its subcontractors
  • Prepare documentation and provide support in managing emergency, fire and rescue issues for the construction site
  • Carry out an emergency and evacuation exercise, with a frequency agreed with the HSE project representative
  • Report, investigate, and communicate all HSE accidents, incidents, and near misses as requested by the Hitachi Rail STS HSE management system

About The Profile

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Civil engineering degree or similar
  • Followed mandatory Italian/French/Belgium course on OHS coordination
  • Previous experiences in construction projects
  • Preferred experience on railway project/activity
  • Experience in working with electrical hazards and in power plant activity/commissioning
  • Experience in dealing with authorities, the client or third parties
  • Experience in managing interference phases, subcontractors or stakeholders
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards
  • Preferred of knowledge of Belgian health and safety regulations

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as an OHS coordinator

Languages: Level of English/French, both technical and fluent, which allows you to evolve easily in our international and multicultural environment
