Assistant/Associate Professor, Higher Education and Student Affairs

POSITION: The School of Educational Foundations, Leadership & Aviation (SEFLA) at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Higher Education and Student Affairs. This nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position has an anticipated start date of August 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activity and teach graduate program courses via a combination of face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online platforms in areas appropriate to the program's needs. Additional responsibilities include advising, supporting, and supervising graduate students, leading program initiatives, serving as a resource to the school, college, and university, and participate in local, regional, or national professional associations. The required teaching load is typically 12 credit hours over the nine-month academic year. This position is located on the Stillwater campus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned doctorate with an emphasis in adult, post-secondary, or higher education and/or student affairs administration or a closely aligned area;
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to effectively work with a diverse group of collaborators;
  • Willingness to plan/design, develop, and deliver instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online classroom formats.

Applicants for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor should have a record of peer-reviewed research presentations/publications, and experience teaching/advising college-level students from diverse backgrounds. Applicants for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor should present an accomplished record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals; seeking external funding; teaching/advising graduate students from diverse backgrounds; collaboration; and participation in innovative academic initiatives. 

All applicants should demonstrate an interest in the university’s land grant tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and extension. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants who present evidence of:

  • High-quality teaching and advising of Master’s and Doctoral students from diverse backgrounds;
  • a research agenda reflected in high-quality research publications;
  • External funding, and (4) collaborative leadership of academic initiatives. The selection committee appreciates demonstrated research agendas and/or prior professional experience in adult education and/or any of the variety of postsecondary educational environments that are in addition to 4-year universities.

The Oklahoma State University Higher Education and Student Affairs Program offers graduate degrees, including two options in the M.S. in Educational Leadership Studies (options in College Student Development, and Higher Education); and the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration. The program also houses two graduate certificates focused on Hidden Student Populations and Facilitating Career Development. The M.S. program in Higher Education and graduate certificates are delivered fully online, and a reimagined hybrid Ph.D. program will launch in Fall 2024.
