ICF’s Transportation Practice specializes in addressing complex planning, policy, and program issues at the nexus of transportation and the environment, energy, and communities. ICF’s work focuses on integrated approaches that support sustainable transportation decisions, addressing mobility, safety, environmental, social, and economic effects of transportation. Our work includes strategic planning, research, policy analysis, outreach, training, and program evaluation for federal, state, and local governments. We specialize in evaluating the impacts of infrastructure projects, programs, and government policies; developing guidebooks; and documenting best practices related to integrated planning, transportation operations, and the environment.

Summary:

We are seeking a Principal Transportation Planner for ICF’s Transportation Practice. The successful candidate will lead statewide, regional, and local transportation planning projects with a focus on the Southeastern or Mid-Atlantic United States, as well as national-level research projects and selected planning studies in other regions of the U.S. This position is desired to be on the east coast. We have an ICF offices in Atlanta, Georgia; Arlington, VA; and New York, NY and would welcome a hybrid work arrangement, other locations from Georgia through New York will be considered.

The position requires the following experience in as many of the following areas:

  • Transportation planning, including statewide, metropolitan, and/or corridor planning.
  • Performance-based planning and programming processes, including project prioritization and selection processes.
  • Freight planning, port-related planning, and rail planning
  • Transit planning, and related analyses addressing topics such as shared mobility, first-mile last-mile connections, bus rapid transit, park-and-ride planning, and travel demand management plans.
  • Transportation financial analysis, asset management, and/or economic analysis, including risk assessment and benefit-cost analysis.
  • Transportation data analysis and visualization.
  • Policy analysis related to freight and/or passenger travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Will lead statewide, regional, and local transportation planning projects with a focus on the Southeastern/Mid-Atlantic United States, as well as national-level research projects and selected planning studies in other regions of the U.S.
  • Leading the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff.
  • Managing task or project schedules and budgets.
  • Facilitating workshops and other outreach activities.
  • Leading development of new business opportunities and proposals with a focus on state and local clients.
  • Identifying industry trends and working closely with the division senior leadership to position ICF for long-term growth.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in urban planning, public policy, economics, environmental science, transportation/civil engineering, or related subjects, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of overall "hands-on" experience in transportation planning, policy, environmental issues, economics, or asset management.
  • 5+ years of experience working on state, regional, or local transportation plans or policy issues, preferred in the Southeast (e.g., Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina) or Mid-Atlantic (e.g., Maryland, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York)

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience within a consulting environment leading business development initiative(s).

Additional Professional Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Proven business development capabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients to achieve established goals.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$110,037.00 - $187,064.00
