Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for a Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) Project Leader for complex and sophisticated cost optimization projects.

We as in the Smart Infrastructure division we develop networks that supply our cities with light and heat intelligently and we know our way around automation and digitalization in the process and manufacturing industries. As CVE Engineer & project manager you work in a global team and are responsible for the cost and value evaluation of purchased or manufactured parts / components. You know and apply related manufacturing technologies / process through application of all CVE levers and methodologies to develop target costs and value drivers.

In this position you work in a local and a global team. You will align and conduct projects with customers from different locations in China and in our global CVE team.

You'll make an impact by

Product life cycles in a highly competitive and cost-driven environment become more complex. You take the challenge to increase our product´s value while simultaneously decreasing costs. You identify room for improvement, lead process optimization activities, calculate best cost and value positions and ensure transparency.

You employ Bottom-up approaches of Cost Value Engineering indicating cost optimization targets for products and systems based on cost models per function and aggregated costs per component, cost split from system to component level and feasibility of material cost targets. You evaluate the cost impact of alternative technical options concerning the most cost-effective solution.

This is teamwork and may apply support from several CVE engineers or cross functions of our customers.

Your defining qualities

• Bachelor / Master or above education background, preferred in engineering
• You can calculate cost of at least one technology like:

o Plastic parts

o Metal parts / Sheet metal parts

o Machined parts

o Casting

o Electronics (PCBA)

o Assembly / manual or automized process

o Additive manufacturing

• This job requires >12 years of project execution experience in the above-mentioned working environment. Excellent knowledge of Engineering is a core competency.
• You can apply methodologies and bring transparency and structure into complex products and solutions like:

o Benchmarking

o Market analysis

o Function cost analysis

o Requirements engineering

o Project management

o others

• Your know-how of products, systems and relevant production processes is outstanding. This shall include automation and drive, control and protection, signaling and high voltage for e.g. building technology, electronic products and electrical automation, fire safety, protection systems or energy distributions, low and medium-voltage cables, power bars and switchboards, the manufacturing of Printed circuit boards (e.g. PCB, SMD/ THT, PCBA) and also empty and equipped cabinets with respective enclosers (e.g. circuit breakers, contactors or switchers).
