The Boeing Company is seeking an Mid-Level Software Quality Engineer based out of Englewood, CO, Colorado Springs, CO,Berkeley, MO, Hazelwood, MO, Aurora, CO, Chicago, IL, Colorado Springs, CO, El Segundo, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Huntsville AL, Long Beach, CA, Mesa AZ, North Charleston, SC, Oklahoma City, OK, Plano TX, Ridley Park, PA, San Antonio, TX, or Seal Beach, CA.

Our process oriented and customer-focused functional Software Quality Engineering (SQE) team, partners with the Software Quality practitioners and software development teams to create a framework for the SQE role across the company. As a member of this team, you will be establishing and maintaining SQE processes, tools, metrics, and training, and driving cultural change. 

The framework you will help establish, will be used by Boeing SQEs on programs to verify compliance to processes and standards throughout the software lifecycle, ultimately reducing program risk and improving the quality of our software products. 

A successful candidate will be experienced in Agile and have a broad background in software development lifecycles approaches, tools, and processes. Working knowledge of DO-178,Mil-Std-(LOR), AS9115, DevOps and/or DevSecOps is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and strong written/verbal communication skills are crucial for success.

Be able to code in Python, GitLab CI/CD, AWS Cloud development, creating work flow diagrams.. Working with Containers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works across multiple teams to create or update software processes, standards, templates, audit checklists, and other tools.
  • Monitors and investigates SQE performance and effective and consistent use of the SQE framework.
  • Develop automation framework to enable program SQE's to be more effective and do more thru information/data at their fingertips.
  • Establish approach for SQE teaming and monitoring of suppliers that will improve supplier software development performance.
  • Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Software Quality and Software Development, and their customers, highlighting potential best practices as well as areas of improvement.
  • Use analytical/critical thinking to analyze and outline SQE workflow steps to enable automation in support of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Partners with SQE teams with analysis of program/project software quality metrics with the goal to standardize and improve software quality and manage risk across programs. 

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years experience with the software development lifecycle (requirements analysis, design, code, integration & test)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Software quality assurance / software quality engineering experience
  • Knowledge of AS9115 and DO-178 requirements
  • Hands-on experience as a software developer or software test engineer
  • Involvement with products developed using Agile software development practices
  • Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science,

mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Summary pay range: $96,900 - $151,800
