About the role


Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh, serving the risk prevention and insurance needs of middle market companies in Australia.


As part of this position you will manage the placement of existing and new business while serving as a key negotiator and problem solver in obtaining the most appropriate placements based on our client needs. Providing a value-add service to client service teams you will use your expertise in the market to leverage the best possible solutions for clients.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with underwriters, practice leaders, claims personnel and client service teams
  • Assisting in the Design, Planning and implementation of clear and effective renewal and broking strategies as required
  • Maintaining an active and direct involvement in claim related matters and assist claims personnel in the negotiation of equitable claim settlements on behalf of client as required
  • Working within and across the region to support new business growth and assist in the development of new products
  • Keeping abreast of changing market conditions and informs practice client servicing teams, and/or clients of major developments affecting various types of coverage
  • Monitoring flow of Marsh business into MMA – specifically targeting a reduction in exemptions
  • Recognising and capitalising upon revenue generation, growth and other opportunities

Skills and experience required:

  • Prior experience within a broking, underwriting or placement position
  • A solid understanding of risk management and major classes of insurance
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Relevant Broking qualifications (Tier 1 Compliance) and tertiary studies are desired
