DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Perishable Goods Process Lead to develop and implement comprehensive cold chain operations across Amazon Japan's rapidly expanding perishable business. This role will be responsible for establishing end-to-end processes for temperature-sensitive items across multiple new initiatives including Cold Chain Project, SSD (Same Day Delivery) Perishables, and Quick Commerce. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in perishable goods handling and cold chain management, with the ability to design and implement scalable solutions across warehouse operations, transportation, and inventory management. This position will play a critical role in Amazon Japan's ambitious goal of becoming the country's leading frozen/chilled supplier by 2030.

Key job responsibilities

1．Operations Design & Implementation

Leads the design and implementation of cold chain processes across warehouse, transportation, and procurement domains for multiple temperature zones (frozen, chilled, ambient). Establishes comprehensive quality control systems and standard operating procedures for temperature-sensitive items. Develops and implements food safety protocols and compliance standards across the network. Creates scalable solutions for handling perishable items in Core network, SSD network and Quick Commerce operations.

2. Supply Chain Management

Designs and optimizes inbound processes including vendor direct delivery and transfer systems. Establishes inventory management strategies considering product shelf life and temperature requirements. Develops demand forecasting methodologies specific to perishable goods. Creates efficient replenishment cycles to maximize product freshness and minimize shrink.

3. Transportation & Delivery Network

Designs transportation processes for temperature-controlled items across different delivery models. Establishes packaging standards and temperature monitoring protocols. Optimizes delivery routes and time windows for perishable items. Implements unattended delivery solutions maintaining cold chain integrity.

4. Cross-functional Leadership

Partners with multiple teams including Operations, Transportation, Fresh, and Tech teams. Leads coordination between different business units (B2C, B2B, Furusato). Collaborates with global teams to implement best practices and innovative solutions. Guides and influences stakeholders across various levels of the organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of program or project management experience
• Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
• Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
• Business-level Japanese: Capable of creating and interpreting business documents, as well as conducting meetings.
• Business-level English: Capable of creating and interpreting business documents, as well as conducting meetings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
• Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
