About the Role:

We are looking for someone with a background in Engineering, Product, and G&A talent compensation, who is passionate about developing meaningful rewards programs, guiding organizations in making pay decisions, and building knowledge and trust in our compensation programs. The Sr. Compensation Manager (Business Partner) will partner and consult with the HR business partners and a group of senior leaders and their organizations supporting and evolving Cloudflare’s approach to Engineering and G&A compensation. This role also partners closely with the compensation experts globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with our People Team Business Partners to influence business leaders in compensation strategy, programs and issues while balancing business acumen, reward expertise and relationship skills
  • Work with cross-functional teams and leadership to understand business goals and recommend/implement innovative approaches, policies and processes to effect continual improvements in compensation programs
  • Assess the effectiveness of our compensation strategy for our engineering, product, and G&A organizations, while optimizing for employee experience
  • Consult on the design and administration of global programs, processes, market analysis, annual budget planning and focal review
  • Develop, implement, and manage base, variable, and equity compensation programs
  • Partner with leadership on cost impacts relating to location strategy and cash and equity programs across all organizations.
  • Assists with preparation of data related to participation in compensation benchmarking/surveys. 
  • Lead compensation survey input and market analysis 
  • Manage compensation team's day to day ad hoc analytical data analysis, creating standards, processes, and analytical tools.
  • Work with data to develop compensation models to derive useful compensation insights that will drive our decision making 
  • Partner with recruiters to create fair and competitive compensation decisions and offers
  • Partner with the People Operations and Systems team to configure and administer Workday compensation 
  • Partner with People Analytics to build tools that help the business make compensation decisions and deliver insight.
  • Implement and administer compensation policies and programs 
  • Develop and deliver total compensation communications, including training, compensation statements, videos and other material

  • Emotional intelligence, ability to work well in a fast-paced, iterative environment, open to changes in focus and direction.
  • Play a key role in administering the annual compensation cycle 
  • Partner with People Team Business Partners to provide compensation consulting to the Engineering and G&A functions, including job evaluation, market pricing, compensation exceptions and other ad hoc compensation projects
  • Good understanding of fundamental business and financial concepts and a history of effectively collaborating with Finance teams, Legal.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Compensation Consultant, preferably 4 years directly supporting groups with leveraged compensation programs in tech industry. 
  • Experience supporting Engineering client groups required and G&A client groups a plus
  • Expertise in financial analysis, statistical analysis, and modeling is required 
  • Expertise in Excel & PowerPoint 
  • Excellent project management and time management skills 
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Experience with equity program administration
  • Knowledge of Radford survey benchmark jobs and database
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, influence, problem solve, and successfully collaborate and communicate with clients on various levels is essential 
  • Experience working in Tableau Desktop (strongly preferred) or other equivalent tool
  • Experience with Workday 
  • Previous experience working in the high-tech industry or a fast growth environment are preferred

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

  • For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $143,000 - $175,000
  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $188,000 - $230,000
  • For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $198,000 - $242,000
