Position Summary

The Manager of B2B Market Strategy & Competitive Intelligence is an instrumental role that’s part of the broader B2B commercialization team at CVS Pharmacy. In this role, you join a small center of excellence team and contribute to the team’s mission in creating win-win pharmacy services for CVS and our clients by creating best-in-case solutions and client experiences. You will have the exciting chance to evaluate early-stage opportunities, write business cases, and conduct quantitative and qualitative customer, market, and competitor research to help inform B2B market strategy. 

You will execute on key tasks and be a valuable thought partner on strategy projects ranging from short sprints on certain subjects or in response to leadership asks to long-term cross-functional engagements with other teams. You will report to the Senior Manager of B2B Market Strategy & Competitive Intelligence and work closely with the Director and other leadership across the team. As a key contributor to the team, you will lead analytical exercises, business opportunity sizing, secondary and primary research, and slide-based story telling. You will help the Sr. Manager on the team stay on top of market trends and identify new opportunities. You must be intellectually curious, analytically strong, highly collaborative, and an excellent communicator.

This role will entail many opportunities for developing strategic frameworks, analytical thinking, Excel/PowerPoint skills, and executive storytelling with senior leadership exposure.

Proactively deepen CVS team’s knowledge in Industry & Competitor Trends and Client Needs

  • Quantitative and qualitative market research on industry trends (addressable market, market segmentation, different business models, macro risks and opportunities etc.) 
  • Thoughtful competitive intelligence and monitor day-to-day competitor movements to articulate & evolve CVS value propositions; enable the team to establish market expansion strategy, including assessment of competitor pricing and service offerings, new entrants, and overall competitive landscape assessment
  • Provide thought leadership on medical cost savings and STAR/HEDIS measures and the latest trends
  • Partner with sales & B2B sales enablement teams to distill insight from client feedback/survey, and maintain thought leadership on the interplay of client needs and market trends
  • Partner with and leverage insights from other related internal partners (e.g., Marketing) and facilitate knowledge sharing (e.g. periodically Market Pulse Forum for B2B commercialization)
  • Develop highly polished and executive-ready materials to key updates in market and articulate how industry & competitor trends and client needs informs B2B market strategy

New/Early-stage Opportunity Assessment 

  • Develop and maintain dynamic economic, sizing, and pricing models (including and not limited to opportunity sizing of product concepts, product economics & pricing models), based on imperfect data and educated assumptions
  • In partnership with team members and stakeholders, develop business case framework for new health service opportunities on our portfolio strategic roadmap to outline the investment and value tied to new initiatives and portfolio expansion
  • Support data and analytics efforts for PHS to support go-forward strategy to create pathways to health services and connections to internal and external partners by collaborating with Enterprise Analytics A&BC team to create and track KPIs/performance metrics.
  • Resourcefully leverage imperfect internal and external data to triangulate and extrapolate

Be a key advocate for CVS B2B market strategy Development 

  • Be an analytical and thought leadership powerhouse for the B2B commercialization team and be able to quantify even ambiguous concepts (opportunity sizing, distilling insight from client survey data etc.) 
  • Support the Sr. Manager in developing strategic perspectives and acting in our role as the voice and thought leaders of Pharmacy Health Services
  • Contribute to the creation of executive materials on critical strategy initiatives to support senior-level decision making. Regularly interact with corporate leaders at the Senior Manager, Director, Senior Director, and VP-level to articulate strategies, findings and recommendations. Utilizes PowerPoint as needed to effectively gain consensus amongst leaders and to set direction
  • Partner cross-functionally on strategy projects with teams within Pharmacy and beyond, e.g., with Design Lab, other RxGrowth teams, B2B Partnerships, Omnichannel, Marketing, Care Delivery, MinuteClinic, Caremark, Aetna, among many others

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in strategic roles (such as Market Research, Strategic Planning, and Consulting or related functions with ability to synthesize strategic insights and turn them into actionable tactics) 
  • 2+ years of experience in creating financial models and/or manipulating data using excel
  • Experience in healthcare services (e.g., pharmacy, hospitals/health systems, primary care) and/or healthcare IT and digital health

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, MPH, or master’s degree in an analytical or healthcare-related field (e.g., MBA, Master’s in Economics/Finance or Master’s in public health)
  • Proficient in Excel & data analytics
  • Experience in pharmacy, health insurance, or PBMs
  • Experience in data visualization (e.g., Tableau)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Finance, Public Health, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or Information Science) or equivalent relevant experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$63,300.00 - $139,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
