As a Mechanical Design Technician, you will be working at a cutting-edge manufacturing plant in Manassas, Virginia. You will be instrumental in expanding and optimizing facility operations to meet growing production needs. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate closely with engineers, project coordinators, and construction trades. Your work will involve drafting as-built pipe and equipment layouts to record drawings, driving the operational excellence of the plant. Engaging in primarily hybrid work is a pivotal part of this role, where you’ll be tasked with assessing design packages and spearheading the implementation of field observations and field verifications from team members to current systems. You’ll leverage tools like AutoCAD for detailed 2D drawing, REVIT packages and Bluebeam software that bring our visions to life. This role provides a constantly evolving set of challenges and opportunities for professional growth.

As a Mechanical Designer, you will:

• Conduct regular site visits to verify existing field conditions and ensure the alignment of the design implementations process with the project's observational reports and specifications.
• Coordinate effectively with project engineers, project coordinators, engineering coordinators, construction trades, and other team members to ensure that the design reflects the project’s objectives.
• Provide comprehensive 2D drawing packages that are clear, accurate, and follow the site design standards.
• Verify, update, and draft comprehensive chemical/mechanical plans, including piping layout, equipment layout, schedules, and control schematics.
• Verify, update, and draft detailed piping plans including pipe routing, instrument and valve locations, and equipment layout.
• Draft Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) that show the interaction among system components and equipment.
• Produce detailed flow diagrams for both gas-side and water-side systems (HVAC, Hydronics, and Fire Protection).
• Implement isometric views into design packages to assist in field installation and understanding.
• Provide custom installation details for the more complex portions of projects.
• Conduct punch-list walks on completed projects to ensure the final implementation adheres to the design intent.
• Participate in the updating and drafting of new and existing products for design change, cost reductions, warranty improvements, and manufacturability. Assist with evaluation of vendors. Conduct field walks and field verifications during site trips.
• Provide drawing and drafting support for details, vendor submittals, and perform engineering drafting, drawing review, drawing control, and related services required in the design of engineered systems (i.e., tank and/or vessel design).

Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis, as required by the nature of their role.

• Position requires visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction. Applicants must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

• Applicant must complete background check and drug screen and be fully authorized to work for any client in the Unites States.

The base salary range for this position is $74,100.00 to $111,330.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
