About This Role

As a Senior Adviser Data & Reporting, you will play a critical role in supporting Rio Tinto’s Modern ERP Program by delivering high-quality data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence solutions. You’ll work closely with programme managers and stakeholders to develop dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics that inform strategic and operational decisions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment and is passionate about turning data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality data analysis and reporting to support programme planning and performance tracking.
• Design, build, and maintain data models and dashboards using Power BI, SQL, DAX, and Excel.
• Apply your deep data and analytical expertise to transform complex data into powerful insights empowering strategic decision-making and driving the success of a major enterprise-wide transformation.
• Ensure data integrity through regular validation, cleansing, and troubleshooting.
• Interpret and effectively communicate observations, risks/improvements and insights from the data
• Collaborate with programme managers, PMO teams, and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver actionable insights.
• Lead the development of dashboards and analytical tools that enhance visibility into programme performance.
• Prepare and maintain month-end and ad-hoc reports aligned with governance and stakeholder expectations.
• Proactively identify and communicate insights, risks, and opportunities based on data analysis.

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in data analysis and business intelligence.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), and Excel.
• Advanced skills in SQL, DAX, and data modelling.
• Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
• Experience working in large-scale programs or enterprise environments.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with data governance and performance optimisation practices.
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
• Understanding of project and task management tools (e.g., MS Project, DevOps).
• Ability to provide advisory support to managers and vendors on data-related challenges.

We are finding better ways to simplify our operations, expand our capability and improve productivity, to do this we are embarking on an exciting journey that will transition us to a modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform moving from an old, outdated technology (currently RTBS) to a new digitally enabled S/4 Hana and application ecosystem.

An effective RTBS is a key enabler to Best Operator, given 30-60 per cent of our frontline time is spent in the system. To deliver this change we must ensure that we work closely with each of the Product Group’s (PGs) and Functions to modernise how we operate in the system. Consequently, this is not a technology led program, it is business led.

The newly created ERP Implementation Program team within the PMO function will bring together a variety of specialist skillsets to shape our digital future and simplify, automate, modernise and improve our ways of working globally.
