Position Overview
The Central Texas Food Bank is looking for a NON-CDL DRIVER in our Transportation Department. The primary responsibility of this position is to load and unload company vehicles and to provide timely and efficient transportation of food products from donors to the Food Bank and back to our partner agencies. It requires dependable assistance in warehouse operations and safety procedures with emphasis on receipt and storage of incoming product. This position works independently and with minimal direct supervision.
This position will be scheduled Friday through Monday (4-10 hour shifts)
Relationships
- Work closely with the Router to keep projects and tasks moving forward.
Your Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in receiving and delivering in warehouse environment.
- Experience driving a 26 ft. box truck.
- Possession of a current Texas Class C driver’s license.
- A minimum of two years of route delivery experience and a good driving record for at least three years.
- Experience in warehousing and demonstrated ability to operate all warehouse equipment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical aptitude including computer literacy, navigating applications on Smart Phone and using GPS and other tracking systems.
- Successfully pass the skills test
Your Responsibilities
- Provide customer service on our distribution dock by pulling and verifying agency orders, and supervising loading of agency vehicles.
- Receive donations and keep accurate log entries of all donations.
- Follow procedures pertaining to proper handling of work, ticket/inventory documentation.
- Help conduct periodic physical inventories, as directed.
- Transport food from donors to the Food Bank and from the Food Bank to agencies- this includes loading, driving, and unloading product.
- Develop good working relationships with store personnel and agency personnel, and immediately notify the Transportation Manager of any potential problems.
- Keep accurate, legible log of the weights and sources of all food and grocery products donated and all agency receipts and shortages.
- Assess the condition of donated food, placing acceptable products in proper storage and immediately discarding unacceptable product.
- Mark and sort perishable foods that require special handling.
- Maintain vehicle condition logs and immediately inform the Transportation Manager of any problems concerning Food Bank vehicles including accidents, mechanical failure, or need for maintenance.
- Operate rider/pallet jacks.
- Work cooperatively with warehouse staff and assist with warehouse duties as needed.
- Comply with all health regulations and other laws that govern food handling.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, data gathering, and completion of goals, metrics and deadlines.

Working Conditions
- Hours of Operation: Core business hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. This position’s schedule is dependent on scheduled delivery routes, so this role sometimes requires working irregular hours including early mornings.

- Environment: Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
- Conditions may include working outside in inclement weather, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
- Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, and automobile.
- Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or meeting for some positions.
