You will join a team of experienced and talented software engineers based in Patras, Greece, with years of history delivering high-quality carrier and enterprise grade products, in a fast-paced business environment, and will have the potential to collaborate with fellow engineering teams across the globe.

The Performance Engineer will execute, monitor, analyze and maintain performance tests, solutions and automation for a variety of applications and platforms for our core networking business and product portfolio. Demonstrates tenacity in root-causing performance bottlenecks and treats the product as a white box for isolating and/or fixing associated defects. Uses clear, concise, logical steps and excellent judgment to understand the issue before trying to tackle it.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify, track and quantify performance issues
  • Troubleshoot performance related bottlenecks and provide insights/suggestions at platform or network teams
  • Perform breakpoint analysis to ensure acceptable levels of performance
  • Cross check across time and releases in order to identify potential problems, omissions, and open issues
  • Create the next generation of tools and infrastructure for performance testing, focusing on productivity, release velocity and product quality
  • Enhance and support performance environments/infrastructure both on perm and to the cloud
  • Plan for execution and own the regression testing across releases and platform combinations
  • Work under accelerated software development cycles, and help ensure that shipped products meet rigorous standards of quality and are delivered on time

Qualifications and Requirements

The position requires an entry level Software engineer professional, with 1 year (or less) of related experience in software requirements, design and/or development, preferably in Linux. TCP/IP networking skills and exposure are also essential.

Essential requirements

  • Unix/Linux knowledge (entry to mid-level)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Good TCP/IP networking skills and related protocols knowledge
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written Greek and English communication skills
  • Programming experience, shell and/or other (entry to mid-level)
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Desirable attributes

  • Track record of performance testing methodology; from design to execution
  • Proven analytical skills for data-driven decision-making with emphasis to operational efficacy
  • Relevant knowledge of performance testing tooling. E.g. IXIA, T-Rex, Netropy, etc.
  • Exposure to cloud services: OpenStack/AWS/Azure/Google Cloud
  • Exposure to XenServer, VMware, KVM virtualization environments
  • Relevant experience with system level testing, performance, capacity, longevity testing
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
