Role Profile

LSEG's Post Trade Technology Division is having an internship opportunity in DevOps Engineering & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) within our team in Colombo. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will get to play a role in driving the implementation of SRE practices across Post Trade teams.

The candidate will get to work closely with development, operations, and security teams to design, build, automate processes, streamline workflows, and improve resilience & efficiency.

They would be required to work on morning, day or night shift based on UK time according to the monthly roster and expected to work from the office covering at least 3 days per week in hybrid mode. Out-of-hours support overnight and across weekends and bank holidays may be needed.

Interest in building strong business knowledge in addition to technical skills is valuable for working with business teams during investigations. They need to work closely with domain experts and build understanding of the underlying technologies used by the applications.

Must be self-motivating with the ability to prioritize work and should be able to learn and adapt to fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Closely work with Dev/Test/BA scrums for releases, manage daily batch operations, maintain environments, and assist in deploying releases from test to production in an agile environment.
  • Bug fixes and enhancements to London Clearing House (LCH) products
  • Regular environment builds from GitLab pipelines.
  • Build, maintain and optimize GitLab pipelines.
  • Work to the ITIL standard following LCH/LSEG policies & procedures
  • Build & maintain monitoring solutions for distributed systems.
  • Design solutions for longer term fixes for application bugs and small functionality enhancement requests
  • Implement application fixes.
  • Update Bitbucket/GitLab with source code changes where necessary
  • Update relevant Wiki/documentation with changes
  • Co-ordinate the Release process for new releases
  • Maintain working relationship with business teams, business management and other application support teams
  • Support weekend releases and maintenance work.
  • Regular project related work will be carried out.
  • Carry out requirements as defined by project team
  • Apply resolutions following the LCH Organizational Change procedure

Candidate Profile / Key Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (IT, Software Engineering, or Computer Science)
  • Industry experience in SRE/App support/DevOps/Software Engineering or in a similar technology-based role
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • UNIX/Linux System Administration skills
  • Scripting skills (bash/shell scripting, Python, PowerShell)
  • Oracle Database/SQL query writing skills
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and Ansible.
  • Understanding of product development lifecycle and methodologies
  • Knowledge of Network Diagnostics & Web Servers will be an added advantage.
  • Hands-on in version control repository (ideally Bitbucket /GitHub/ GitLab)
  • Exposure to Geneos, Control-M, Murex, IBM MQ, Jenkins, DataDog, GitLab and AWS Cloud Technologies will be an added advantage.
