TITLE: IB Coaching Lead (District Support) - Stipend Role 25/26 SY

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

The IB Coaching Lead provides instructional leadership, coaching, and implementation support for International Baccalaureate (IB) schools across the district. This role ensures program alignment with IB principles and district academic goals. The Coaching Lead will serve as a liaison between district leadership and school-based IB coordinators, offering coaching, professional learning, and strategic support to build capacity in IB teaching and learning practices.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the district’s lead coach for IB instruction across all authorized and candidate IB schools.
  • Collaborate with District Inquiry Coordinator, administrators, and instructional coaches to ensure fidelity to the IB framework and continuum.
  • Provide job-embedded coaching and modeling of inquiry-based instructional strategies aligned to IB philosophy.
  • Develop and facilitate professional development sessions for teachers and staff on IB practices, transdisciplinary learning, and assessment strategies.
  • Collaborate with district coaching coordinators to align IB approaches to teaching and learning with district instructional goals.
  • Analyze school-level IB data (student achievement, unit plans, assessments) to inform targeted support and instructional improvements.
  • Support with PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) for IB educators and principals that focuses on the IB framework.

“Day In the Life” Overview

On a regular day, as the IB Coaching Lead you might:

  • Checking in with IB Coordinators across several schools to review implementation goals, coaching needs, or upcoming milestones
  • Visit an IB candidate school to observe classrooms and provide real-time feedback on inquiry-based instruction, learner profile integration, or assessment practices
  • Facilitate a districtwide collaborative planning session with PYP, MYP, and DP Coordinators to align unit development with IB standards and practices
  • Meet with a school leadership team to review their Programme Development Plan and offer strategic guidance on next steps
  • Support new-to-IB teachers through targeted coaching sessions focused on core IB principles, planning tools, and instructional strategies
  • Review unit planners, learning environments, or assessment samples across schools to provide feedback and ensure consistency in implementation
  • Collaborate with the district curriculum and instruction team to ensure IB approaches align with broader academic priorities
  • Collaborate with District Inquiry Coordinator to ensure fidelity to the IB framework and continuum

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education.
  • Must Hold a Valid Indiana State Teachers License
  • Experience across multiple IB programs (PYP, MYP)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, with at least 3 years in an International Baccalaureate (IB) setting (PYP, MYP)
  • Have an overall evaluation rating of effective or highly effective for a minimum of two consecutive years
  • Exhibit strong leadership among peers, especially tied to collaboration and work within teams
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, writing, responding through email, phone call, messages, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional coaching, mentoring, or teacher leadership, preferably across multiple school sites or grade bands
  • Strong knowledge of IB Programme Standards and Practices (2020) and experience applying them in school-based contexts
  • Experience designing and facilitating professional development for educators and school leaders
  • Familiarity with curriculum alignment, unit planning, and assessment in an IB framework
