The overarching purpose of the Music Production Coordinator 1 is to spread the message of the restored Church of Jesus Christ around the world through music via print, web, app/mobile, social media, streaming, and other delivery channels in 100+ languages.

The Music Production Coordinator 1 is a part of the Publishing Services Department (PSD) of the Church, housed specifically within the Scripture and Music Production Division on the Music Publishing team. This position reports to the Senior Music Publisher. The material produced, managed, and published by the music publishing team encompasses all music content for the Church, such as hymns youth music, streaming, special events, etc. While the music publishing team does not produce any audio or video music assets, it is responsible for the stewardship of the files and publishing them in Church channels.

The Music Production Coordinator 1 partners with other music production coordinators, music engravers, music asset managers, music translation supervisors, translators, project managers, client stakeholders, and vendors to coordinate project work. This role ensures that predefined and established processes, budgets, timelines, and standards are followed. Core projects include: the new Hymns–For Home and Church collection, Youth Theme music, Magazine music, Temple dedication arrangements, Channel maintenance requests, and others.

This is a full-time, fully-benefited position that is time-bound, with an expected end date of June 30, 2030. If a candidate lives outside of Utah, this position can be fully remote. If a candidate lives in Utah, this position is required to come into the office in Salt Lake City one time per week.

The anticipated start date is on or before September 1st. The starting salary range is between 65K-75K, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • 50% Manages communication and file versions of songs, ensuring prescribed approval paths are followed. Facilitates production logistics, including routine communications, file handoffs, systems access, etc. An understanding of legal requirements or music theory is not required, even though many file handoffs will revolve around these topics.
  • 30% Oversees the planning and execution of defined deliverables that are part of larger publishing projects or initiatives, including cross divisional projects and campaigns. Uses relevant software to monitor and control the execution of deliverables. Addresses any issues that arise during execution. Receives work in the form of short-term assignments that often require the application of independent judgment.
  • 20% Supports administrative needs of management, including financial queries, production performance reports, documentation maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Utilizes industry knowledge to perform routine quality checks and provide feedback. Evaluates current processes and goals to make and/or implement recommendations. Manages stakeholder expectations regarding timelines, scopes, and bid analyses.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proficient in business tools such as Excel, Sharepoint, Powerpoint, Tableau, Workfront, etc; Workfront proficiency or basic knowledge of CMS strongly preferred.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; effective at prioritizing and simultaneously managing several active projects involving numerous stakeholders and deadlines.
    • Customer service-focused and results-oriented. Consistently meeting established timelines and budgets is critical for successful performance.
    • Ability to solve complex problems with limited oversight; ability to quickly adapt to frequently changing requirements, deadlines, and demands, all controlled by other stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to work well with, communicate with, and motivate others who don’t report to you and have different priorities; strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and conflict management skills for de-escalation.
