Sr. Business System Analyst

We are looking for a highly skilled hands-on Business Systems Analyst. Someone who can translate business and design requirements into technical requirements for multiple Development teams. Additionally, must have a working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, Jira, Story authoring.

In this role, you will:

  • Working closely with the team in executing the goal
  • Work with Developers and Subject Matter Experts to understand the effort for a requirement, communicate any risks to the Scrum master and facilitate making adjustments that satisfy all parties.
  • Defining and documenting system requirements, ensuring they align with strategy and architecture.
  • Translate business and design requirements into technical requirements for multiple Development teams – back-end service developers, framework developers, and UI developers
  • Conducting user acceptance testing and ensuring products meet quality standards for applications
  • Continuously monitoring team's products and adjust priorities accordingly
  • Providing training and support to end-users on the use and functionality of reporting and reporting needs
  • Lead agile ceremonies like planning, stand-ups and sprint reviews.

What you’ll need to succeed (required skills):

  • Working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, Jira, Story authoring
  • Technical knowledge in back-end API services and UI
  • Excellent writing skills to document system requirements in confluence or Jira stories
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong in Data analysis, Mapping, data dictionary, Documentation
  • Strong in gap analysis, Traceability matrix
  • Must have domain knowledge in: Mortgage/ Loans exposure, Credit Protection knowledge, Life Insurance knowledge
  • Graduate preferred
  • 8 + years of hands-on experience as a Business Systems Analyst, System Analyst, or Technical Analyst, with heavy emphasis on technology and implementation understanding
  • Great communication and documentation skills.
  • Great technical skills in Java based web applications and back-end services.
  • Experience with software development methodologies and practices (Agile, Scrum)
  • Excellent ability to work in a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders.
  • Experience and comfort level acting as a subject matter expert and consultant.
  • Good in bi-lingual, strong functional knowledge of either the insurance or banking domain

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client office in Toronto, ON.
