Position Summary:

  • Contribute to statistical genetics efforts to leverage population genetics in the setting of a novel genomics platform to gain and integrate insights into complex disease biology across multiple different therapeutic areas to successfully drive programs in support of the discovery platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse large-scale genomic data including UKBB, Genomics England, and usage of the GWAS catalog and OpenTargets to derive population genetics insights into diseases and traits of interest
  • Apply statistical methodology and develop novel analytical approaches to analyse high-dimensional genomic data (GWAS, WES, WGS, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.) across multiple disease areas
  • Work with computational colleagues to integrate germline genetics datasets with somatic genetics datasets and other modalities including bulk RNAseq, scRNA seq, and other more novel modalities
  • Use Mendelian randomization to elucidate causal mechanisms, pathway information and other functional data to prioritize effector genes and causal mechanisms and information across multiple traits or variants to generate insights
  • Participate in the design and implementation of cutting-edge genetic studies and analysis strategies, and identify potential problems and propose remedies or refinements
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in statistical genetics and contribute to the development of new research strategies and methodologies

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Quantitative genomics, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related fields
  • Strong background in genomics and experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement novel computational approaches
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such a R or Python
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly and concisely

Preferred Attributes:

  • Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable for this role
  • Experience with database query work, particularly in the context of genomic datasets

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic Research Associate in Molecular Biology to join our passionate team of scientists. The candidates will work closely with scientists to advance multiple aspects of our R&D programs at Quotient Therapeutics. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to thrive in a fast-paced, action-oriented team environment with a clear passion for science and impact. The individual will have demonstrated evidence of agility and nimbleness to progress scientific discoveries, and an overt attitude of positivity when facing challenges. The candidate will be dedicated to develop and grow outside their comfort zone by constantly learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive scientific and R&D efforts by conducting experiments alongside Scientists in the laboratory
  • Support the implementation of novel target discovery platforms, protocols, and other assays
  • Collaborate and communicate with other team members across various functional areas

Key Skills and Experiences:

  • BS or MS degree in biochemistry, molecular or micro biology, or related field
  • Minimum BS and relevant experience. Will consider hiring at the Sr. RA level for candidates with MS and/or demonstratable relevant experience.
  • Hands on experience in, histology processes, DNA handling and PCR are required
  • Experience or interest in a variety of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques: including DNA extraction, NGS library preparation, tissue sectioning and LCM, are highly preferred.
  • Experience in Immunology, mRNA expression analysis, DNA/RNA purification, or RNA biology, gene therapy or editing and NGS are also preferred
