Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced amazing devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage manufacturing operations and production and work with Contract Manufacturers.
- Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing activities in support of company goals and objectives
- Coordinate line set up, equipment readiness and capacity modeling under time sensitive conditions.
- Establish and control the execution of operating strategies and plans
- Use statistical techniques to verify the effectiveness of team generated solutions
- Ensure quality of work through all phases of production
- Be able to work with other organizations building strong relationships within Amazon.
- Ensure compliance to corporate social standards.
- Lead cross-functional teams in factory readiness of high volume product launches up to an including, activities related to the end of product life
- Travel to domestic and overseas manufacturing factories for on site support per the business need.
A day in the life
The position is for a talented and highly motivated Operations Program Manager of Manufacturing supporting Lab126 products' manufacturing. This program manager will be responsible for the quality and delivery of market leading and high impact consumer electronics at contract manufacturer site.
About the team
Global Manufacturing & Operations team is a bridge between Contract Manufacturer (CM) factories and US Silicon Valley head quarter (Lab126), in charge of managing CM factories process development, sustaining and delivery high quality products to end users. Our team members based in Asia and USA; and we manage the CM factories located in Asia, America and Europe.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years’ program or factory operations experience in a manufacturing environment or working with contract manufacturing partners
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in product, program, or project management in leading cross-functional teams in delivery of major new products or services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills - both in Mandarin and English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering degree preferred.
- Knowledgeable in Lean methodology and demonstrated ability in goal setting
- High-level leadership and decision-making skills
- Good negotiation skills
- Program management in supply chain and operations
- Proven track record implementing quality programs with spirit of continuous improvement.
- Ability to implement robust Corrective actions using 8D format.
- Good vision, analytical, process oriented and strong problem-solving skills.
- Detailed knowledge of product development processes as well as a strong understanding of manufacturing processes
