Location: Flexible (Shenzhen). This role requires proximity to an office location with flexibility to work remotely 2-3 days/week with manager approval.

The Role

GoPro is looking for a top-tier candidate for a Senior Technical Program Manager in Optical Systems. This position will be responsible for managing overall Optical Systems development, acting as the project lead through design, development, validation and release to production. The successful candidate will have exceptional product development fundamentals, exceptional communication skills and a desire to work with an amazing team to build game-changing products.

What You Will Do

  • Provide leadership in driving product development efforts within Optical Systems projects, from early concepts to product launch and sustaining.
    • Lead and align efforts to define engineering scope, critical paths, technical risks to create project plans and schedule that will deliver high-quality products with high confidence.
    • Drive project execution.
  • Identify and highlight technical risks quickly and efficiently, resolve conflicting priorities and inter-dependencies, drive for consensus, risk mitigations and conclusions.
  • Partner with other Technical Program Managers and team leads to ensure that handoffs between teams are never dropped, and are transferred with clear responsibilities, ownership, and delivery expectations.
  • Deliver continuous, informed and transparent status updates organization-wide to ensure all stakeholders, including leadership teams, are aware of ongoing projects and their status.
  • Work with engineering leadership to define Optical Systems roadmap and support early investigations effort.
  • Support Engineering, Legal and Operations team to close on SOW and legal agreements to meet project plans.
  • Maintain approach towards teamwork and collaboration.

Skills We’re Excited About

  • 8+ years of consumer electrics development experience.
  • 5+ years of Engineering Program Management in consumer electronics industry.
  • Demonstrated competency in the execution of multiple or complex projects with a track record of success, ideally in consumer-facing products.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Embedded Systems, Optics, Opto-mechanical and imaging systems preferred.
  • Able to work independently with little direction and multi-task in a fast-paced, chaotic environment.
  • Results and deadline driven must be willing to do what it takes and spend the necessary time to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills and an ability to make reasoned decisions with imperfect or ambiguous data.
  • Excellent technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges and risks.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and enjoys working closely with engineers.
  • Takes responsibility, feels a personal stake in the products you ship, values integrity, works for the success of the entire team, constantly looking to improve yourself and your team.
  • Comfortable with uncertainty, thrives in ambiguity.

Bonus Points For

  • BS/BA degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
