Minimum qualifications:

The mission of Google Home is to create a home that takes care of the people inside it and the world around it. The Google Home app serves as the primary interface for users worldwide, enabling them to control, automate, and interact with an ever-growing ecosystem of smart home devices from Google and partners.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the product idea, strategy, and roadmap for device controllers within the Google Home app, covering first-party (e.g., Nest), third-party (e.g., Cloud and Matter) devices, and in-app controller experiences (e.g., Media).
  • Develop and iterate on a generic, scalable controller framework to support a wide variety of third-party cloud and Matter device types and own the smart device onboarding flow, enabling ecosystem growth.
  • Lead the expansion and refinement of Matter device support within the Google Home app, including addressing complexities like partial Matter Hub integrations.
  • Define requirements and user experiences for visualizing historical sensor trends and data and leverage AI to provide users with helpful summaries and insights.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, UX/Design, User Research, Marketing, Legal, Partner Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact products.
